GLHRACING 05-26-2002, 04:22 PM We do not run the Renegade on asphalt, just snow. *I would be glad to post the pics if someone would explain how. *I have not posted pics in a year and it seems different now???

Rocketman 05-26-2002, 04:43 PM you just add the pics at the bottom of the page where you type your reply. You can only do 1 pic per post
doopilot 05-26-2002, 05:44 PM GLH, was it one of the proto's or the real deal? Just trying to save some time if I don't have to set up my 01 800 for the grass if the 800 REV is on the way now.

doopilot 05-27-2002, 07:36 PM GLH, the pic's answered my earlier post on this topic. I can hear the meowing already about the poor hookup on the ZR.
Thanks for sharing these great pic's.
GLHRACING 05-27-2002, 08:45 PM doopilot,
Actually the ZR hooked much better than the REV. *If I had hooked as good the race would have been a little different. *The chassis is going to be good when some other little thing are done. *We had set the sled up the day befor and had little time to adjust for traction. *With good bite it launches like a dream!!!

permafrost 05-28-2002, 12:09 AM SWEET PICS GLH. Some nice eye candy on a buggy spring day. I bet the gade would kick butt on the pavement as well as it does on the snow http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
Thanxs for taking the time to figure out how to post pics

doopilot 05-28-2002, 01:07 AM GLH, my mistake, all the smoke from the Cat gave me the impression it was from excess track spin. Especially with what appeared to be the Doo out in front and virtually no smoke from it.
GLHRACING 05-28-2002, 08:14 AM The doo was out in front on most every launch but would get passed around 1000'. *The doo had stock jetting with hopes that the DPM would take over. *It seemed pretty clean. *The ZR was a little rich on the bottom but we had to do that to keep from bogging out of the hole. *The difference was about 2 sleds lengths at the end.

Cudney Racing 05-28-2002, 10:09 AM Let's here the 60', 1/8mile, 1/4mile times and MPH, how fast was it.
dooman 05-28-2002, 10:12 PM I am with Bill, lets here numbers ,not hype.
GLHRACING 05-28-2002, 11:30 PM I did not post numbers because we had poor traction. *The strip was actulaay a runway. *The only thing I had to go by was my bike. *That bike ALWAYS run's 11.2 - 11.5 at 125-130 mph. *The bike ran 12.7's at this runway. *Pretty slow. *The zr 900 ran 11.9 and the rev ran 12.2. *The numbers are slower than if we were on a good tar surface. *I was more impressed with the way it kept up with the ZR and that seemed to hook pretty descent. *Cicero will tell the real story. *REMEMBER we only spent about 2 hours getting the sled ready for the track. *I changed only the primay spring and helix, that's it. *I would say that a half second faster is a definite, bringing the time to 11.6 with little to no clutch work. *I think with a little work high 10's are in the game. *As it was we dropped .6 sec from bone stock but is was a slippery surface to. *I would spin to about 100ft. *I could floor it on the second yellow light and still not red-light. *MPH was around 115 in this form. *There were not 60' times either, that's why I brought my bike. *Just to have a constant in the roundup.

800MXZ 05-30-2002, 02:35 AM Buddy of mine and I went to the strip tonight. I was just the wrench, but we were running a 98 ZRT800 Imp Stock. Motor is ported with stock pipes/ carbs/ running Uni Filters. We ran 5 passes between 10.16 and 10.19. We actually got to 10.08 when it cooled off though.
We are still shifting short, at least 150ft. early (we are full shift approx 1000ft) but have 126 MPH. 60ft is good though 1.368 was the best, with 1.378 the highest. I think it is impressive for a sled that is heavier than stock!! Everything is there but the tool kit and airbox.
What do you think one should run for a gear 1/4 mile with 8600-8700 RPM?
ARCTICZRT600 05-30-2002, 06:11 PM Looks great. *Bad A#* machine. *It seems to me that someone forgot to rejet their ZR, OOOOPS!!
alscool 05-30-2002, 09:39 PM great pics, *how long can a sled run like that before over heating and melting?
kid rocker 05-31-2002, 12:43 AM Damon, that looks like a petite girl on the ZR, that's not fair! *LOL..
GLHRACING 05-31-2002, 08:58 AM Kid rocker,
The girl is actually my girlfriend. *She races for us in the grass. *You are right about the weight, 125 soaking wet. LOL *Weight does make a difference. *She had a harder time hooking up but could make up ground at the other end. *Gotta love girls that love speed. *The t-cat she was driving was cruising around 135mph. *I could only get 130. *We don't have an approved leather suit and when she hit 10.02 I thought the dress leather pants would be helpless.

machz69 06-01-2002, 05:39 PM yup very nice pics ....can hardly wait.hehehe
jayjaysin 06-03-2002, 01:01 PM Do you guys have any problem with ski(wheel) lift on the asphalt? *I noticed lots of smoke from the ZR, is it that you can't get enough traction for ski lift to be a problem? *I would think that in the snow they can pull the skis off the ground, so on asphalt I think it would be even more of a problem.
machz69 06-03-2002, 02:01 PM NO JAY *WHAT SHE IS DOING THERE IS A BURN OUT. U HAVE TO HEAT THE TRACK UP TO GET IT TACKY TO RUN. U COULD HAVE AS MUCH SKI LIFT AS U WHAT BUT IT DONT HELP. ON GRASS WHERE SKI DRAG WILL SLOW U DOWN IS INPORTANT BUT ON ASPHALT U DONT NEED IT.IT IS ACTUALY TOUGH ENOUGH TO GET IT TO KEEP THEM DOWN N HAVE GOOD TRACTION AT THE SAME TIME.LOL.... SO HOPE THAT HELPZ
jayjaysin 06-03-2002, 07:01 PM That was my point, how do you keep them down? *I think that the lift would be a problem.
GLHRACING 06-03-2002, 07:23 PM One of the biggest problems with the asphalt is the lack of traction. *Actually it is not that hard to keep the front end down when the suspension is right because they do not hook all that great. *Compared to grass, the asphalt 60' times are slower from what we have experienced. *The best 60' we have had with the 800 *was in the mid 1.60's on asphalt and in the grass we are in the low 1.4's, however different tracks are better than other's just like grass.
glh
jayjaysin 06-04-2002, 06:34 PM Yeah, I can see how that smooth conveyor belt type track would be difficult to hook up. *I guess it does make sense that a std. track with picks on the grass would hook up better.
ronzx9 06-06-2002, 09:09 AM Damon,
How much to convert the track/suspension over for asphalt? There is a drag strip about ten minutes from me. I could get a lot of use out of my sled there then setting up for grass. I could run the sled and bike and have a riot. If you're interested, they have test and tune every Wednesday night. We could hook up some time for a little fun!!!!!
Later, Ron.
GLHRACING 06-07-2002, 09:07 AM Ron,
All you need is a track ($500) and a set of ski's ($200). *The rest is just tuning. *You really don't even need anymore wheels but I would suggest at least 1 more set. *send me an email and I will see what I can do. *Asphalt is alot of fun and easier on the sled (no dirt). * I am curious what you'r does in the quarter as well or even the 1/8th. *Suspension is a big issue but not hard to get started. *Then it's just clutching and gearing. *
Damon
