A while back I was looking at the yamaha PWC line-up and I saw they have put fuel injection in the four stroke jet ski that uses the same motor as the RX-1. That boosted the power to 160 horses. Since motor wise the sled seems to follow the progress of the Jet-Ski do you think yamaha will put fuel injection in the RX-1 for 2006? I hope so...I hoping to place a spring order this year. Since everyone else is building machines that are 150-160 horses...why wouldn't yamaha just throw the fuel injection in and bring the RX up to 160 horses. Imagine the fuel economy...and reliability :inlove:

Doesn't the fuel injected version in the R-1 make 180HP??? That'd be even better...

It's hard to say what Yamaha's next move will be. They definitely need to address the light weight category... I still think an R6 inspired, 600cc four stroke in a new rider-forward chassis would be a serious threat to the 2 stroke industry.... Either that or bring back the pogo-stick front suspension. :D

sort of the r1 has 180 hp but they changed the bore and stroke still the same cc's but added stroke and took away bore i believe

When the R-1 bike went from carb to e.f.i there was only a couple of hp.

The RX-1 motor is slightly different from the R-1 motor. You can say they are pretty much the same motor because they are in many ways...but the truth is the RX-1 motor is set up differently. I believe the difference is in the cam profiles but I could be wrong. Whatever the differences, you can't use the R-1's progress as an example because the two motors aren't entirely the same. If the four stroke version in the jet ski can pull 160 horses then so can the RX-1, from what I understand the jet ski and the RX-1 have the same exact motors in them and are not different like the R-1 and the RX-1. Either way I hope they do because I sure would like to be ordering a fuel injected RX-1 this spring.

The 2003 R-1 made a claimed 152 hp @ 10,000 RPM, and the 2004 makes a claimed 180 hp @ 12,500 RPM. I think most of the power increase was from raising the redline by so much, using larger throttle bodies, and by adding "ram air". I don't think they will want to increase the operating RPM like that in the RX-1, especially since the RX-1 has a gear reduction to get the clutching RPM down to a useable 8500 RPM.

I do think Yammie will add EFI to the RX-1 in the near future.

Yammi will have EFI on the RX-1 in 2006 or 07 i think.

I'd like to see the 180hp R-1 engine moved to the RX-1. I like your 600 idea. I've heard rumors around that AC is experimenting with a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 engine in a sled. Get them back into the 4-Stroke game, though they have made some progress with the T660.

I think progress is an understatement.... That T660 is supposed to be the cats' a$$, so to speak. Can't wait to get the real story from sawman who is the proud owner of one of these beasts.....

I'm curious to see what AC has up it's sleeve - they haven't given any indication of what they intend to do as the 2006 emission deadline looms nearer and nearer. Will it be SDI (or DI) 2-smoke, OR 4 stroke, following in the path of snowmobiling's number one manufacturer..... Well, in this forum anyways. :D

I saw the T660 at the Big East Show. Nice sled. Like to see my son's motorcycle engine in one though. Should be interesting to see what's up their sleeve.

if they fuel inject either the rx-1 or rs- vector, i will seriously consider bying one. i love these sleds. i will get rid of my rev. the gas mileage is just horrible, and there is always the thot of me breaking down(600 h.o. ring problems) i know i wont have that with this sled. the motor seems awesome. for the riding i do, its perfect, cause i dont like to ride bumps, i love groomed flat trails. its an overall perfect canada sled

I will do the same, when the RX-1 is Fuel-Injected I'll buy one.

the T660 is one great sled i rode with a fellow that has one once. we weren't in any twisties and when he was leading i had to pay attention or he was gone {he's young and crazy i might add}. when i was leading he was always right there.

I think Yamaha might have a lighter chassis next year and also a rider forward chassis too :whistling:

Sure 180hp would be nice but you are still dealing with 50-100LBS then other manufacture sleds

I think it was a mistake for Yamaha to make the Vector/Rage look like the RX-1

Also it was rather un Yamaha to do that as most models they have released were diferent from the previous models

ei: Phazer/Exciter,SRV/VMAX 540 or the SX/SRX though the under belly was close to the same the rest had it unique look to it :hallo1:

They should have went for a more aggressive looking hood/belly pan combo on the Vector/Rage vs the RX-1

also sure the 110-120hp class is where sales are now but the fact is it is still a 1000cc sled that insurance companies love

They need to lump off a cylinder(973 triple 120btw ) and have a 650 twin with turbo in the 110-130 range that will drop another 20-40pounds to make it a sub 500LBS sled

And market both a laidback traditional and a rider forward chassis

Now take that turbo charged 650 twin 4S and take the turbo off and have an 75-90hp entry level sled :undercover:

BTW the new 650 Twin 4S should be called the 650 Turbo SRV-T :inlove: and XLV for the non turbo 650

Thank you for reading the stuff that came out of my
