We're going on a snowmobile trip to Canada in January and I'm wondering how much I should expect to pay for gas. We'll be near Lake Nipigon.

wow, that puts you guys at about $3.00 u.s. per gallon (2.98 ish)

For what its worth, we just got the figures from the fuel / air resource board today at work. They expect most of MI to be right around the $3.00 mark (and they said that was a conservative figure) by July of 2005.
I just paid 2.10 a gallon for diesel today (most I have ever paid)
They expect 2.25 - 2.45 a gallon for gasoline (87 octane) by February.
Wonder how I can get a Toyota Prius to pull a 4 place enclosed trailer?

In the boonies West of New Liskeard we paid .99 / ltr for Premium last winter. Best way not to be upset by the price..............NEVER LOOK AT THE PUMP, just fill'er up and slam down yer plastic.
Of course explaining it to the wife when yer bill comes in is a different matter all together..............LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Let's go sledding!!

The so called experts have been saying this for a coule years now :slick: , My theory is that it will probably jump to $3 a gallon for a strech and then settle back to around $2.25 to $2.50 which will make us all feel like where getting a deal. :p

Right now in southern Ontario ( Belleville ) it's around .80/litre. That works out to about $3.65 a Canadian gallon. The American gallon is only 80% the size of ours so that would be around $2.90 Canadian for an American gallon of gas. Figure in the foreign exchange rate (75% for easy figurin') and we are paying locally about $ 2.18 American for 128 ounces of gas.

Hope this rough calculation to American sized gallon and dollars offers some perspective.

Well the farther north you go the higher you will see the price and up around Nipigon you should prolly be high 90's by Jan...I kno around christmas in Hurst when I was with my dad in the truck it was 98 or 99 it was outrageous but they have to get it up there...so and I heard you make like 2 cents a litre if you own a station so its a conveince for you... I don't mind paying the exra money for good gas but you get those small stations that sell old gas thats lost its octane I know I got a bad batch in the 4-wheeler we needed to run about 5 tanks of high-test untill it straightned out!

I paid around $1.50/L last year at Halfway Haven. Bet its over $2 this year. But like Jim said, just slap down the plastic, and don't let if wreck your trip.

Really, fuel is a small part of any of my sledding trips. I usually spend more in beer and food.

Costs 1.29$ a litre up here.

Prices usually go up once the fuel ship comes to our village. No pipeline comes up this far up...

I jsut read an article here in MI. Says the same thing about the prices are here to stay. Say bye bye to cheap gas.
I really don't think you need to worry about that big of a difference in price between the states and Canada. By the time you factor liter/gal and the exchange rate. Your usually about the same.
Just don't let it get to you.

To convert per litre price to US gallon multiply the price by 3.785
So if you get gas for $1.00 per litre it works out to $3.785(cdn) per US gallon.
Or at todays (Oct 6, 2004) exchange rate $3.00 US per US gallon.

My ### gets sore just thinking about it. Word on the street is, the gas attendents will now give you a kiss when you pay for your gas, It's the least they can do after F()<#!#& us. LOL

I heard an oil analyst talk yesterday about how the fundamentals say that oil should be less than $40/barrel even with the growing Asian demand. When it hit $40 these guys were saying it should only be $30 / barrel. Unrest in the Middle East, terrorism and now hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico are all adding $10 -15 / barrel. The biggest impact on pump prices in North America is U. S. strategic reserves and wholesale gas price on the New York exchange. It's like everybody is out to get us snowmobilers! :bash:
