: Hey Guys Need Help Deciding Which New Sled To Get
Good2Go 10-08-2004, 04:51 PM Hey Guys, i have a couple questions, i sold my mx and now i'm looking to upgrade to something newer. I have about $1500 MAX to spend. I need help deciding which sled i should look for.
Currently i am looking at 1993-1994 Polaris XLT 600's and 1993'ish Mach 1 583/617's
I want to have a 583 minimum for a motor, so i really want to stay around 583, 600, 617, or maybe 670 if i find out what insurance is going to cost me.
What are some good SKi-Doos for this price/year range? If i'm going to get a Polaris i will only consider the XLT.
Please no Arctic Cats. :p
I want, reliable, quick, nice for trails and mostly field running, and preferably with electric start.
Any opinions are greatly appriciated and could i have some pros cons on each sled and how much life i can expect to get from that motor.
Thanks guys your a great help!

mudweiser 10-08-2004, 05:03 PM The mach would probably take the Xtra leaky triple. I'd keep looking, you should be able to get somthing a little newer. The XLT-SP in 95 get you the x-tra 12. Watch out for the bad cranks in the XLT's. Mach is a nice sled, i think it would have full gauges, kinda nice, it's a heavy bit though. Don't expect it to be a ditch bannger. Over the 2, i would take the Doo, but thats what i ride, Polaris guy's would say different.
Good2Go 10-08-2004, 06:50 PM what motor mach would take the XLT? i doubt the 583?

Good2Go 10-08-2004, 09:33 PM how many k's are on it? what shapes' it in? etc.. let me know.
ZR006CatMan 10-08-2004, 10:16 PM Watch out for the bad cranks in the XLT's.
He is right. Stay away from the XLT's.. Personal.. I think either those sleds are gonna ride rough and like a tractor at high speeds.. I suggest moving on up to a an MXZ, or a formula Z is your looking for ski-doo. 96 or newer. I am sure you could find a 96 MXZ 583 for a decent price. My opion is the 670 motor is a crap shoot. There are realy good ones, and bad ones. I had a bad one once... Bitter taste still in my mouth.. :-)
I want, reliable, quick, nice for trails and mostly field running, and preferably with electric start. I know you said No cats. :whistling: But I gotta say, a 98 ZR 600 EFI would not be a bad choice either. ETT tunnel = More suspension and better ride. Maybe find one for around $2000 u.s.. I rode a 98 MXZ 670 for a year.. Loved the Cats so much better... I also rode a 86 formula before that... My opion is Ski-doo didn't get there corner to corner dialed in well untill the ZX Chassie. But It's a free country. Buy what you like.. But I would spend a few more bucks and shoot for atleast a 96 ski-doo if you truly are set on Ski-doo's.. The bullet style ski-doos should come with a kidney belt..

The mileage is high (15,000k/9800m)but runs great :sly: ,can check the comp for you to give you an idea, though if buying the sled you might as well check the comp yourself

Sled is very clean,I cleaned the Raves a month ago, greased every 2 weeks in winter,I am anal about that

Good2Go 10-09-2004, 09:45 AM freezerburnt i checked out your garage, but i would like to know what goodies it has? electric start? reverse? what is the compression? whats the track like? studded? are these trail miles or?
let me know, and the only thing is i only have $1500 canadian MAX to spend....
Good2Go 10-09-2004, 09:47 AM also, i thought the '93-95 XLT's DIDNT have crank problems? I've been talking to a member here on SW and he says that he's owned a '93 that had 10,000miles on the original motor and 3 other buddies that havnt had any problems?
It was the '96 and newer XLT's that had the crank problems?
