: Cleaning plastic bellypans
NDMtnSledder 05-31-2002, 01:14 AM I was wondering if anyone has a miracle product for cleaning oil and exahaust of the colored plastic bellypans. *Arctic Cat green bellypan in paticular. *John Corneillie if you see this would you mind telling me what you used on that part of the belly pan. *I forgot to write down what you told me when I was up there.
I used BiOrange hand cleaner on my yellow mxz, had to scrub a bit but worked out great and it's all natural.
SKI-DOOD 05-31-2002, 01:51 AM ZR500, I use WD-40 to lift the dirt and it works great to break up dirt and grease. Then i use a clean rag and armor all to make it shine for awhile.
Rocketman 05-31-2002, 02:30 AM Castrol Superclean. Works great on the yellow...my belly pan is always dirty...that's why I'm switchig to black http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
revrnd 05-31-2002, 07:59 AM AC, Where did you get the BiOrange hand cleaner? Do you think it would be available in the Toronto area?
I used lacquer thinner on my '98 MXZ. No problems with that. I tried using the Bombardier Cleaner in the past (no good) . I think Permafrost has good luck with it though.
ARCTICZRT600 05-31-2002, 08:26 AM I used Simple Green on my 98 ZR
michahicks 05-31-2002, 10:21 AM I'll second the Castrol Supercleaner. Available at dicount auto supplies everywhere here in Mich., even Meijers. Dow bathroom cleaner with "scrubbing bubbles" has the same main ingredient, just cost more.

revrnd~ You should be able to get BIOrange at Canadian tire or priceclub. It's just your basic hancleaner/degreaser.
pottsie 05-31-2002, 07:18 PM I use lacquer thinner on my MXZ. Works nice.
WINTERFREAK 05-31-2002, 07:42 PM Sounds CRAZY but use oven cleaner. *Works like a charm *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

paul yarek 05-31-2002, 09:09 PM spray nine for where there is no grease and degreaser where there is grease and oil.
phazerhater 05-31-2002, 09:20 PM I use acetone for most everything and then on the plastic stuff I go over it again w/armor all....
Rocketman 05-31-2002, 09:38 PM using acetone or solvent or laquer thinner takes the shine off the plastic...might not be something you want to do to your sled...ie hood....
Bartman 05-31-2002, 10:06 PM I like castrol super clean but the oven cleaner idea sounds good too, they both have the same active ingredient, sodium hydroxide, or other wise known as lye, the stuff is great but use gloves and eye protection because the stuff is very caustic.
NDMtnSledder 06-01-2002, 02:29 AM Thanks for all the suggestions guys. *I have a few of those products around so I'll give them a try. *I had crashed my zr500 2000 and the front end I bought has the green bellypans on it. *I'm trying to decide between my current black and the green.
ARCTICZRT600 06-01-2002, 08:06 AM GO GREEN. *GO RED WINGS!
98xc700 06-01-2002, 11:36 AM Castrol super clean works great on the belly pan. I use wd-40 on the suspension parts and the tunnel. It's a great cleaner.
kid rocker 06-01-2002, 12:57 PM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I have used all of the above suggested products on my yellow Ski-Doo bellypan and take this one to the bank. * Zep commercial concentrate, Industrial Purple cleaner and Degreaser from the Home Depot. * Use a spray bottle, spray it on the bellypan, you may scrub a little if you wish, but no need to. * Let it set for about 3 minutes, and hose it off, there is no other product better than this. *Piece out.
ZMachMan 06-01-2002, 01:06 PM Kid Rocker Is Exactly Right on this one. * I used to use Simple Green, *but I found Zep (Purple) To work even better! * *Then I use Honda Spray Polish on everything, *including the Hood to finish it off.

liquid600 06-02-2002, 12:46 PM engine degreeser or oven off.
LicknOutaTheCatsDish 06-03-2002, 07:57 PM Castrol Superclean does the trick...prox $5 a gallon at Wallmart. *Might want to dilute, it's very concentrated.
WD40 is also excellent for any and everything.

LadyK 06-03-2002, 08:39 PM Orange hand cleaner and a little elbow grease works well. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
revrnd 06-03-2002, 10:52 PM Where can I buy the elbow grease? I don't want to use mine *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
LadyK 06-04-2002, 11:31 AM Sure. You can find elbow grease on the same floor as the complaints dept. go to the end of the hall and take the elevator up to the 9th floor and ask the first person you see http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

performancex 06-04-2002, 05:33 PM The elbow grease is on isle number eleventeen, right next to the widgets.
revrnd 06-04-2002, 06:29 PM A couple of years ago I picked up some stuff from a chap in Monroe, MI. My brother saw it mentioned in Snowtech. can't think of the name off hand. I'll check when I get home from work.
revrnd 06-05-2002, 12:52 AM The stuff is called Belly Ache. The guy that sold it ran a body shop in Monroe, MI. Said he rode ZRs and was trying to come up with a cleaner for the green bellypan. The name of the company is MC Incorporated. 734-243-5252. Steve Hohman might know if they are still around.
I never used the stuff as I got rid of my MXZ before I needed to clean it.
