For '05, nothing can compare to the T660 Turbo when it comes to driving pleasure. Ski-Doo's Legend (ZX) is so outdated now. Next year, I hope they can put their V-1000 into the RT platform. Maybe make the 3-Up out of it too (GTX style). I also hear the T660 Turbo is a hoot to drive, something very odd for a 4-Stroke Touring sled.

If your renting them, a turbo might not be the best idea. In that case, their all good. The Yamaha's are very reliable, a pro to a renting company.

No doubt the Arctic Cat Turbo Touring is one of the best 2-up sleds out there. The seat is so plush its like sitting on a sofa and the 4-stroke engine is very quiet so you can actually talk to your passenger without yelling or stopping. It also has the power to boot.

and what about reliable and easy to repair and oil gas price maintenance?

Well the 660 suzuki engine has been around for its fair share of time. It was first used in a snowmobile in 2000 as a 600cc, I believe but it is also an engine out of a suzuki car overseas.
So the engine itself should last very long (as long as your car) and well beyond the chasis and drivetrain compentents. The only concern for reliabilty is the Turbo and it hasn't been out long enough to see.
With it being a 4-stroke you no longer have to add oil, just change it and the filter every now and then. And it gets great fuel mileage, around 20mpg.
The only thing is for a do-it yourselfer it will be more difficult to work on then the basic 2-stroke.

I agree with everything you said except for the above statement. That engine is a whole lot more easier to work on then a 2 stroke! No carbs to sync, or tune or jet---its fuel injected. Pistons and rings last for 2-3 times the miles easily!!. No oil reseviour to refill all the time. Oil changes ever 3 thousand miles not every time you get gas. Sparks plugs last 10 thousand miles not every thousand or so. Bearings last the life of the engine not 3-4 thousand miles. No pull rope to wear out- its electric start. No pull rope coil to constantly rewrap everytime the rope breaks--its electric start. A whole less lot vibration-- less stuff coming loose.

So in my eyes it is a whole lot better then a 2 stroke engine....

I think if I was going to rent, I would go Yamaha, strictly due to reliabilty issues.

Personally, I'm hoping my Renegade with the 1+1 seat works well for Mrs. Fishie.

you are going to get a broken nose and black eye from the people on ZX chassis's because that chassis takes a backseat not very often.

Ummm, requiring less frequent maintenance and repair is usually true, but that doesn't make it easier to work on. The two stroke is much simpler and thus easier for the do-it-your-selfer to work on.
And another thing: most bottom end bearings on sleds are good for at least ten thousand miles, not 3-4 thousand like you stated.

But to the original poster: None of us have ridden the new Yamha touring sled yet, but should be an ideal engine for a two-upper. It should be a great sled. Just remember that even Yamaha is not immune to first-year problems, and it's always better to give a new model a year for the factory to get the bugs out of it.

we'll see paul-

Ski-Doo says

"Some Legends get better with time"

"the proven ZX chassis"

tell me that the ZX is not "slightly" outdated; Ski-Doo says the the REV is here to stay, and eventually spread to every model

also, I never said the ZX was a bad chassis, just outdated, as it is the only trail sled from ski-doo still in the ZX chassis

If the ZX is dated 99-05

I guess the T660 chassis is dated as well the current version is a basic 97 chassis with updated tweeks

in the touring mode it has been the AWS V since 99

This year I would go with the T660-low maintenance, better for oyur bottom line-less maintenance. Next year, I would re-look the Yamaha 4-stroke 2-up, once they've worked out any bugs. I rode on the back of an 01 legend 2-up. Not very comfortable, though it's been a reliable sled for it's owner.
