l just rebuilt my motor so how could i see if my oil pump is working? the reason i'm asking is because my water pump belt broke and i burned it up and i don't want to do it again

Mix the fuel in the tank 50 to 1 *then remove one of the outlet hoses from the pump to make sure its pumping oil. If it burned down because of the water pump I would not worry about the oil pump. Also if you change the oil filter you can bleed the pump by removing the *screw on the top of the pump. any air bubbles will bleed out as the oil runs out, 10 or 15 seconds is plenty,
