Hi! I just bought a sled without a registration. DMV said you have to have a notarized bill of sale and on the bill of sale, do a tracing of the serial number (probably on the tunnel). Shouldn't be hard to produce the bill of sale.......
We are haing Grass Drags/ATV Races and a vintage show at the Shawnee Fire Hall in Sanborn (3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn, 14132) on Saturday the 23rd. Band afterwards. Food, soft drinks and beer. Should be a good time. Come on out. For more info, call 716-807-7002.

Oh yeah, you do have to insure for liability, minimum. Check out the Getzoni Agency in Williamsville-they do REALLY good prices. My 97 Panther, liability only is like $48 per year. Tell Grant at Getzoni's Gary from the Shawnee Club sent you.

Do you know the person you got the sled from? If so, just have them write you out another. If you don't know them, try contacting the DMV hotline-the number is listed on this site: NYS DMV (http://www.nysdmv.com)
They can give you the real skinny. If I can help you, don't hesitate to call, PM or e-mail me.

Try the DMV hotline and tell them you lost the bill of sale. See what they say. Does the sled have the old reg. numbers on it? If not, have the serial number ready-they have a capability to check it at the helpline.

Rip1795 - how did you ever make out with registering your snowmobile?
I'm kind of in your same situation. I bought a used snowmobile last year; never bothered to register it because I just ride around on my own property. However, I wanted to register it this year, but cannot find the bill of sale. Guy I bought it from was in the process of moving out of state (which is why he was selling), and I cannot locate him to get another bill of sale signed.
I'm in the Syracuse area.
Thanks
