: Polaris names
madsledhead 06-10-2002, 05:42 PM Hi,
Just a silly question my daughter asked last night, but I can't answer.
Do all Polaris letters designate something? For example:
Theres the ever famous XLT - xtra lite triple
Then Theres the RMK - Rocky Mountain King
Or the SKS - Snow King special
But what do the others stand for?
Theres the XC. XCR, RXL and so on. I can figure out that an F designates a fan model of a previous code (XCF)
Hope someone can answer this ?
Like I said - it's just a silly question but I really makes you think
Thanks
Myers Racing Inc 06-10-2002, 05:59 PM XC - *cross country
XCR - cross country racer
RXL - Racing experimental (Something like that I can't rememeber, 70's)
EDGE - Excellent design = Greater Excitement
TXL- (Can't remember what it stands for)
I used to know them all but forgot most of them know. I remember the EDGE one from when Polaris debut the '99 XCR 440 and thought that is was pretty cool that they were still trying to use the acronyms. Hope this helps some but the RXL and TXL has have slipped my mind but RXL had something to do with the Polaris race sleds from the 1970's.
Myers Racing Inc 06-11-2002, 07:08 AM Thought of it last night at work:
RXL - Racing experimental Liquid
madsledhead 06-11-2002, 12:09 PM Thanks Myers Racing!
Thats great info. I can't beleive I missed the "Cross Country".
HaHa I've been racing them cross country for years and it never clicked!
XC®-cross country (race version)
XC - cross country
HAHA - I love it
ARCTICZRT600 06-11-2002, 12:52 PM My buddy has a saying for the letters POLARIS, I can write it in but it is considered brandbashing. *If you okay it, I can post it.
RNM2399 06-11-2002, 02:29 PM ArticZRT600,
* * Better not post if its derogatory but if its pretty harmless like GMC being garage mans companion or FORD being found on road dead then that would be fine with me. I dont really think anyone would be insulted by that.

Myers Racing Inc 06-11-2002, 02:46 PM If people can't take a little "ribbing" then they need to learn to ease up. You can dog Polaris all you want but over the last two race seasons my Polaris (ATV & Sled) have towed a friends sled over 5 times. I think most of his problems is due to lack of maintenance.
Here is what I say to people that "bash" other brands: "It doesn't matter what you ride as long as you are riding and having fun!!"

ARCTICZRT600 06-11-2002, 03:02 PM Here it is RNM2399, if you find it unfit remove it, thank you for your consideration. * If this offends some I am sorry, it is not meant to upset anyone, it is just a joke.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * POLARIS:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Losers
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Always

madsledhead 06-11-2002, 04:09 PM Not bad, don't like the loser part much, but doesn't bother me at all.

Myers Racing Inc 06-11-2002, 04:49 PM I saw something on another web site about a saying for Cats new Firecat F5 and F7. Thought is was funny but I don't want to start bashing. States a certain "F" word.

I would add something to the effect that it doesn't make any difference what you are on as long as you show up when the talking is over, there is snow on the ground, and it's time to go!
I can't believe a lot of people are shy to bring along their brand X, and ride with a bunch of people that are on Y's
Go figure!
AL
44xcr800 06-12-2002, 10:41 PM brand shouldn't matter .allthe people i ride withare on different brand.well,the four big guys anyway.all i can say is that we all have funand it dose'nt matter what you ride if you like it.me and my wife are the only ones that ride polaris in our bunch
ARCTICZRT600 06-13-2002, 08:17 AM All the guys I ride with, none own a Polaris. *I don't know why, I especially love the 95-96 XCR, white of course. *I never had a chance to own a Polaris but I know I wouldn't mind it.
performancex 06-13-2002, 01:09 PM The ones I hear the most are "polarass" and "arctic crap" (already mentioned).
portage 06-14-2002, 09:19 PM I heard a good one this year- *Ditch Pickle.

I had a 95 XCR 600. *I wanted a triple and got sick of waiting for Cat to deliver. I did like the sled..but didn't love it. *I took out 2 cranks ( just about every 95 did) and it had kinda unpredictable push in the corners. I think a good set of keeled plastic skis would have fixed that. It went over the junkers pretty good, stayed flat in the corners...made decent powerand had that oh soooo sweet 3 into 1 exhaust note. I've bought 4 more sleds since..all 600 triples...guess once you go black you never go back...nooo wait..thats something else!! * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
98xc700 06-15-2002, 05:11 PM We always teased my buddy that had an artic cat. We always called it a kitty cat. When it broke on the trail it was better known as kitty litter. It was always in good fun! http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Team_Arctic 06-16-2002, 01:29 AM yes yes i have been called that but never had the chance to be kitty litter *hehe i have been called *S h*ty kitty * but i just said sure and * covered him in snow *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif *i know i know it wasent the nicest thing but he derserved it !!!
