Best guess would be november 9 because we only got our first frost in early october in Iowa.

I hope I am wrong but I would like to ride before christmas this year. The weather has been very strange here all summer so I am hoping for the best. I picked the first snowfall to stay on the ground as Dec. 16th. Last year we couldn't ride until Jan. I can remember getting on the sled by thanksgiving a few times. I can't wait :bash: for now I will just pass the time like this-> :bash:

Are we talking rideable snow? We're lucky to get that before christmas here...

we usually get a storm, enough to get the groomers out in mid December. At least we did last year........

I hope to be riding before christmas.

Have to wait for everything to freeze up first.

I've already seen some flurries of snow, but if I had to put money on the first ride, I'd have to say between Dec 1st & 15th.

I hope it's sooner! In 1991, we had a huge snow storm on Halloween. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon :(

Here in northern lower Michigan we already had about 2 inches, stuck around for about a day and a half or so.The past couple years we didnt get rideable snow until around Christmas. ( 12 inches or more on the ground for me to ride) I remember back in 1996 when their was 2 1/2 feet on the ground in the begining of december. Once that great lake effect snow machine kicks in watch out. Just need some of that cold Canadian air. Send some down guy's

Well I voted but we do have 12 inches above 4000 feet here and at least 6 at about 3000 or so. Most of our riding is at or above there so if we get a good storm between now and the end of November I should be able to at least trail it for a while untill we can play off trail a bit.

Since the trails in Michigan don't open until Dec. 1, I'll vote for early Dec.

I voted for the beginning of Dec. Dad told me that he heard an old trick was to watch the bee hives. The bigger and higher in the air they are, the better winter you get. We have a hive that is prolly 3 ft long about 40 ft on an old maple tree by our house. He says he has paid attention and in the past few yrs the highest they got were around 10 ft. We got little snow those years. We are waiting to see how this winter is affected by the bees. Sounds crazy, but it is hope.

Hey WKinneIII, I hope your theory about the bee hives is right.

I put on a few miles in September and just turned the first hundred the other day so my vote is moot. This was Halloween though.....
