i traded in my 2002 clutched studded tuned, etc.. edge x 600 in for a 2004 pro x 800, stock with 600 miles. i have heard from a few people that this sled is a dog and not a bit of performance difference over my 600 except in the handling department. i find this very hard to believe i mean its 200 more cc's, bigger carbs and 135 or so hp compared to the previous sleds 112 or so hp. can anyone comment on the performance? how does it run against the 800 rev, f7, zr9, and viper? I am saving some cash and I figure by start of season i'll have about $1000 to blow. What are my best bets in upping performance. don't say studs i already have 240 that are new that i never put on one of my older sleds. so any awesome gearing, clutching, pipes, or heads that would be worth it? would a HSP head be good or what. i wanna pretty fast sled for this season and next season i wanna go big like 910 or 990. so what should i do this season? i need the best setup for the money. i want to be able to beat the f7 and the rev 800 on the lakes. help me out guys also how am i gonna like the sled? i ride very aggressive trail. i am only 16 but am about 5'10" and 200lbs so suspension should be fine.

Save your money, advance the timing right to the stops, gut the airbox, then start jetting it down keeping a close eye for deto light. If your racing come to the line with the pipe good and hot. Get it all to hook up and it will run with anything you listed. Spend the $1000 on trips out west!

1.25" track sell the OEM track
stud the track with 96 if your a trail rider .... if your a lake racer just stud the stock 1" track with 144!

clutch it..... do a seach on hardcore sledder this topic has been coved 100's of times!

RKT head to get a little more grunt!

clutching = 2 springs, 3 weights,1 helix....... $220.00 tops! your engine will need something differnt with or with out the head so I will not give exact tips ...

track 360.00 + shipping for a ripsaw - the 150.00 you can sell your OEM track for= 400.00 for a studed 1.25" track new!

RKT head 330.00

your still under budget!

think about jetting down 2 sizes smaller then stock. 440's? i think... 460 are stock????

Well basically I am in the exact same boat traded my well tuned 600 on a 800 hoping to be a little faster. But everyone says the pro x 800 is not impressive stock. But how many of use drive stock sleds not many. So this is my game plan gear to 1.70 (24-41), 10-66 weights, almond/red primary spring, red/dark blue CCW secondary, with stock helix for now. SLP torque arm, tighten rear stop to tighten against crank case no gap. Next make sure your primary is within spec of .020 - .010 belt to sheave clearance. I installed a set of carbon tech reads, gutted the air box with an SLP air horn. Added tempa Flow II, and jetted down. I still may add flow rites, a SLP single pipe and or RK tech head. We will see if she can produce with this set-up first. And make sure you have the traction most important. Good Luck. :D
