Does anyone here ever clean their aluminum trailers? If so with what- what kind of pads and what not, cleaners? What works well?

I don't mind if it shines or not, I just want to get all the crap off it from the road. I started out with a scotch brite pad and some super clean, It works ok but you have to scrub your a$$ off.

Well my dad owns a transport so I get lots of this fun stuff to do...If the aluminum is real bad use scratchless SOS pads after a really good washing then if you want to make her shine use MFX Polish you can only get it at Transport dealers like Peterbuilt and International have it I know and if the aluminum is just down right terrible and all the road crud try using Diesel thats what we use on tuff grease. hope that helps

HERE'S MY DEAL=EVERY YEAR I TAKE MY TRAILER==TRITON 12 FOOT= TO THE LOCAL TRUCK WASH.
ASK THEM TO SPRAY THE ALUMINIUM WITH THE SAME SOLVENT THAT THEY USE ON THE BIG RIGS.
BE SURE TO SEPERATE YOUR TOW VEHICLE FROM THE TRAILER BEFORE YOU START.IT'LL BURN YOUR PAINT.
THEY'LL APPLY THE ACID=DOESN'T HURT THE TRAILER=AND $10 LATTER==YOU HAVE A WAGON THAT IS SHOWROOM NEW.
BE SURE TO WASH IT DOWN AFTERWARD WITH A LOT OF WATER.

You can use diluted Muriatic acid diluted to clean the aluminum. Be sure to test the strength on an inconspicuous place. Too strong and the solution will dull and blacken the metal

Thumbdoctor, where can you get that muriatic acid?

Boss hoss, Can you just take it to any old truck stop truck wash? Do you have to scrub it down at all or does that stuff just take all the grime right off?

If you don't want to scrub and polish, go to your local boat dealer and get some pontoon cleaner. Be careful, it is an acid.

So far I like the truck wash Idea, sounds like it works and even if it doesn't, What's 10 bucks in the sport of snowmobiling?

Home Depot or any cement dealer. Cement truckers use the stuff to clean their aluminum trailers and boaters use it to remove algae from their hulls.

took the trailer to the truck wash, and just wanted to let you guys know it worked very well, considering the amount of crap that was all over it. Only reason it didn't work great is because they sprayed it and didn't seem to get it everywhere. If I could of done it myself I probably would have been more pleased.

Thanks for all the help.

ANY TRUCK STOP ==TRUCK WASH HAS THE CHEMICALS TO DO THIS.
IT'S THE SAME STUFF THAT'S USED TO BRIGHTEN THE METAL ON THE BIG TRUCKS.....AND IT WORKS THE BEST AND DOESN'T HARM THE ALUIMINUM.
BEEN DOING THIS FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW.
ALUIMINUM IS ALUIMINUM.
