Funny that Arizona's getting more snow than Ontario!
My grandparents are leaving for Arizona on Monday, "before the weather starts to turn sour". Too bad they'll be leaving rain in MN and hitting snow in AZ!

They have been getting hit hard in the Sierras too. Last week a bunch hikers got caught in an early storm in the Sierras, and two Japanese tourists froze to death on the side of a cliff. The weather pattern in the West and Southwest currently has all the signs of an El Nino year, which the CPC says is forming right now.

This could be bad news for the Midwest, so let's hope El Nino fades out quickly. :cussing:

They have plenty of mountains over 10,000 feet in AZ, and even one over 12,000. That means snow in the winter. That's one of the cool things about that region; you can sit outside in shorts getting a tan, then get in your car and be up in the snow with a fairly short drive.

Hey Az, have you ridden the White Mtns since the big fires, or do you stick to the Flagstaff area? Please post some pics for us of the fresh snow if you have a digital...

Here's a pic of the Catalinas when they were on fire two years ago (this was the "small" fire, not the big one from last year):

None of the fires have been in snowmobile riding areas. The fires have been below 7,000 ft which is the cutoff for snow that sticks around all winter. I did try to ride in the White mountains last spring and got caught in a blizzard. Never unloaded the sled. I ride mostly in a few areas between Flagstaff and eastward 125 miles. Attached is a webcam photo of Flagstaff this morning. Behind it is the
12,900 ft. mountain. I ride a lot on the backside of it.
