ok last season i put ceramic coated psi pipes on my ultra, as of yet i havn't rode it. and im gettin anxious, have any of you guys gone from single to triple pipes on an ultra? was it a big diff? was it "peaky" witch pipes are better slp or psi? i beleave i have mob blasters they have silencers built into the pipe and then three tubes that go down n out the belly pan. im not sure yet if i like the sound. imthinkin about gettin the slp pipes with three glass packs. but i am also interested in getting the most power out of the sled.

has any one ran power domes on these? with or with out pipes? do they raise the comp? could i buy a set for 3000 ft and run them down here on premium?

what other performance add ons, up grades... goodies are known to work well with these sleds?

I went from stock to SLP trail pipes with the regular silencer. I noticed a huge difference in top end and accleration. Low end may be a bit less, but I think it is from spinning. I have a friend who races an ultra. He used to run the race SLP's with the stingers (3 silencer). He moved to the PSI Mod Blasters. The PSI seems to give more power, according to him. I think the SLP's sounded better, but for dragging, who cares. The PSI's sound really odd, where the SLP sounds like a dragster. Also if you run the PSI forget about the trail. They were not built for the trail and will not be legal, I assume they will underperform as well. I have actually raced him and he beats me by about 2-3 sleds, though he has larger carbs and is cluthed, I was not clutched last winter. I also just purchased a set of boysen reeds for this winter, I am curious to see how my clutching and reeds will match up to him. I know he also has head work done, but i am unsure of what so i don't want top guess. Our races were all around 700-800 ft. He takes me from the line to finish. With clutching I am curious to see how that will go now as well. His sled tends to take the local races though last year he was DQ'ed for jumping the light 2 times. I have watched him race F7's and Mach 1's and win with ease. Hope this helps some.

i kinda think the psi pipes sounded like a dirt bike. at least they did when i was running mine on the stand, i havn't heard them under load yet

Yeah, that is a good dsesciption of them, very poppy. SLP's sound alot deeper, and rumble. If you were closer I would start mine up and show you. I know I like the sound alot better. Like i said in my 1st post though, PSI's will not be trail legal. If you never ride trails then fine, but if you do, look for pipes elswhere.

I am not too familiar with the DG cans, I couldn't tell you, all I know is what i am told, and I was told that the Mod Blasters were strictly race pipes. Take it to a local radio shop, and run it at different rpms while they spl test it. I beleive the law in MI is 80 db at 50 ft. I am unsure what MN is.

I have a '96 Ultra RMK, and last year put a set of used SLP TrailMod pipes on it. It made a HUGE difference!! All I have done is re-jet it, and change the needle settings. Clutch remains stock. I guess I should clutch it this year... A friend has PSI's and his is definitely louder. The SLP's work great, and I have had no problems so far related to them. I can't believe I rode it for so many years without them.
