Read an article in American Snowmobiler today about some changes on the2005 600 and 800. The 793 HO power TEK (800?) will get new chrome/ceramic (CKS) rings and the 600 HO SDI and 600 HO will get new cylinders, pistons and chrome nitrate (CRN) rings. Is BRP admitting a ring problem? :dazed:

They would be the first as a manufacturer if they did.

I would think that Doo or any other manufacturer have updated technology to offer on new products and will always promote it on new models.
I am not saying that they did not have a problem, only to think that if they put out 10,000 of these engines per year and had problems with 2000- 3000.This is about a 20-30 percent failure which may be overlooked as other problems that could have caused it.
It would give you chills if you looked at all the re-calls and updates each manufacturer do each year, and only ask their suppliers to make it better.I have had and seen many of these engines with 0 problems, and like you say - if it isn't broke don't fix it.

We all know there was a problem in this case, but, there doesn't HAVE to be a problem for an improvement to be made. Everything can always be improved upon.
