I've heard of people going for a trip to Quebec and ending up with a heftly fine for a loud exhaust. I've heard others say as long as you're not being an idiot about it, they'll leave you alone.
What does everyone else thing?

I tend to believe that the folks in Quebec are sensitive to loud aftermarket exhaust systems. In a booklet from the FCMQ that I have, it states the ten commandments for their trail system. Number 6 reads, " It is forbidden to travel within 30 metres of a dwelling, an establishment operated by a health care institution or an area reserved for cultural, educational, recreational, or sporting activities." Now you know the rest of the story. :)

I tend to disagree with that rule, in my part of Quebec trail 15 north passes right along about 18 back yards of houses at about 12 metres away. We have signs advising that it is a "Quiet Zone" and it mostly goes respected. As for loud exhausts. I have a FAST Quiet Tuned canister on my MXz and travel with some other sleds with MBRP glass packs and we've never been stopped or even questioned. I guess it all boils down to right time and place for everything. If you don't go too fast on posted trails and save the lunatic fringe for the open lake, no harm done. But if you tear up the trail system and disregard the rules in front of the local constabulary, just too bad !!!

If you are coming to enjoy the trails and scenery the exhaust you have on your sled won't matter. The problem begins when you start racing around the residential areas and not respecting the people who's homes are there. This gives the police reason to get cranky and start handing out fines for noise. I have a MBRP exhaust on my Mach and its loud but I respect the area that I'm in.
