If you ride in powder alot, then I would go with a Moto X helmet, so you can use your goggles so snow won't get in and around your eyes, but then again, full face helmets keep the wind out of your face so they're alittle warmer.

Everyone will probably have a different opinion on this thread, but I like the look of the Moto X helmets.

full face, those open face helmets are too cold even on a cool night motorcycle riding.

Don't listen to Paul, he just has a sensitive girly face.

I've been wearing a snowcross style helmet with a quality balaclava for a couple of years now and I haven't found it cold yet.

i am switching to the sno x helemt this year. Last year while breaking trial i had to stop every 5 minutes and dig the snow and ice out of my full face helmet. what a pain.

Average temp in Northern NH is about -15F during snow season. I'll stick with the full face.

If I only rode in average temps, I'd be tempted to go with the MX style, but those odd -30C to -40C nights keep me in my full face.

started with a full face was a heart ache.... went to my motor cross with a good balanca and goggles wouldn't go back..if goggles get iced or foggy just throw them under your hood and they are dry and ready for some more powder.... :sarcasm:

yea, it was pretty cold last winter-

I remeber in jan. on one weekend we were up in twin mtn and when we got up in the morning, it was -25f. BURRR! Every lock was frozen, the sleds wouldn't start. The biggest mistake was not using dry gas. Luckily, we shot right over to garneaus garage (luckily the Volvo started) and in about 20 min. we were on our way. The high for the day was like -10f.

Oh, and I ride with a full face. I was fine for the day. A heated visor also helps.

Can't vote as there is no position for a dual helmet.
My helmet can be worn either as a full face with electric shield or as a motox. I need a better pair of goggles for riding moto-x

I have a custom airbrushed CKX with a electric visor, in my mind the only way to go.

I wear both ....Depending how cold it is !!! :bash: :bash:

My head in a moto X is usually warm but you do need a good Balaclava!

But when your up in Cochrane where its wide open terrain its nice to bring a spare full face

I just bought a moto-x. I used to wear the full face ones but I like this a lot better. Plus if you show up to the mountain with a modular you'll get laughed off it lol.

I've often thought of trying the Mx style but I've never had any reason too, my full face HJC with electric shield has always performed flawlessly. My brother will be trying a new Mx helmet this year, if he likes it I might try one next year.

Moto X for me. use some duct tape to tape off where the nose piece sticks out right to my face, as well as on the bottom, keeps the wind out of my face, blocked of the front vent as well.

The reason i like it is because the goggles NEVER fog. My full face always does no matter what i do. I just use a full face winter hat and i'm good to go. Was warm when it was -30 up here last winter.

Love my MX style helmet. Googles never fog! As long as I have good face protection I wouldn't switch. :undercover:

Moto X. I have never had the goggles fog for more than 5 seconds after I start to move after being stopped for several minutes. I may ask for a good heated shield helmet for Christmas, but i am not sure what to do yet, cause i would wear it maybe 10 times a year. Also, i wore a buddies elec shield one time, and the cord drove me bonkers. I felt like just ripping out off already, although i think you would get used to it like anything thing else after a while.

HJC full face with electric shield. I don't have any fogging problems at all.

I voted for the MX helmet but I use both, just depends how I feel. If it is really cold I will use the full face or if it is suppose to snow I put on the full face. I like the MX helmet with goggles best though.
