I have a 1980 Polaris Centurion triple 500 that I'm concerned is getting a little weak. It's in good shape so I'd like to keep it running good. Does anyone know what the compression readings should be? I checked and got 100psi on left cyl. and 110psi on mid and right cyl. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have the same machine. The compression in mine is over 120 in all three cylinders. Haven't checked this year though, but has been consistent over the years.

I had a 79 and they should be over 120. What ever they read they should ALL be close. Your 100 is weak. I think the PTO side was the one that ran hot and they used to increase that jet one size to compensate. Had something to do with turbulance in the air box.

Did you do the comp. test on a hot or cold engine?
