I bought a race manual for my sled (98 FIII) and it was worth every penny....What a good buy, even if you get a chance to read one that is not for your particular sled, I suggest you read it cover to cover.......tons of valuable "theory" and info that will apply to most if not all sleds (for example mikuni carbs).
