Report it to ebay...I would hate to see someone get screwed out of their money.
krellheat 11-15-2004, 10:54 PM I reported to Ebay three times (each a different but similar category of fraud).
Must me by five minutes of fame at the cost of some poor slob loosing his money.
PowderBoy 11-16-2004, 11:12 AM this scam was a large problem last year..... pictures were being taken offline and people were posting them on ebay for very cheap... like 04 F7 EFI buy it now for $3500.00 then when you would click buy it now the "seller" would send you a letter saying that the machine had to be shipped from over seas or something like that... he would tell you to send a check to a PO box.... the surprising thing is that some people actually did this.... make sure that if you do see your sled on ebay you write to them ASAP... i know it takes about 24 hours for them to get it off but at least they will end the auction.... you can also send an e-mail to the high bidder and explain the story... good luck
krellheat 11-16-2004, 11:16 AM I did send Ebay three notices last night (Nov 15th). I thought about contacting the bidders but looking at the list, it appears that the scam is also to run up the bid price and then hit some unfortunate sledder.
Maybe Wednesday it will be take off.
phazerhater 11-16-2004, 06:53 PM I also reported it and sent the "seller" a nice little email. If enough people report it maybe ebay will actually do something about it. As PB mentioned, this was a big problem last year too.
poorsledder 11-16-2004, 07:49 PM its just amazing what people will tyr to do these days
krellheat 11-16-2004, 08:15 PM It is still up. I sent the seller an email but has not responded. I contacted Ebay directly to the customer service dept. No results. Obvious Ebay is letting this scam go through.
krellheat 11-16-2004, 08:25 PM I emailed the bidders earlier today and the high bidder as well. It looks like certain bidders are trying to run up the price before the close of the bid. Ebay gets its commission on the ending price upfront. So it is in their benefit to keep the auction open yet not take responsibility of helping some dirtball screw an unsuspecting bidder.
krellheat 11-17-2004, 09:02 AM FYI: Ebay finally shutdown the scam.
zr580cat 11-17-2004, 12:31 PM Darn it! I was going to bid on it today!

Feel free to send him some questions--when was the last time the exhaust bearing fluid was changed, and how much does it take for a complete refill. And what kind of ski wax to use on the skiis.
puree 11-17-2004, 02:08 PM I remember this topic on here last year,,,, there were all kinds of sleds being put on ebay and they were all scams.... just to think, the season is just upon us,,, so the scams will start hitting again. I sent different emails last year acting like I was really interested and made offers to buy it now,,,, just had fun with the a$$holes,,,,
by the way Krell, I won the bid on your sled,,, cant wait for you to send it my way LOL
seriously, glad you got it taken off ebay,,,
krellheat 11-17-2004, 02:29 PM Will a picture do? I took a couple this past weekend from the mini snow storm (4 inches of snow) that we got friday night.
I am sure there will be more scam on ebay. Hopefully we never fall for them.
phazerhater 11-17-2004, 04:38 PM Get a load of this! The schmuck actually sent me a reply.lol

Ebay does agood job of policing the site. They have little advantage to leaving that auction open, because they don't make a percentage commission off the ending price, but rather just a straight fee in the Powersports category sale.
Last night I saw this Mountain CAt for sale that was an obvious scam. I was browsing thru all the sled, and found the IDENTICAL sled for sale from the real owner. Why would you be so stupid to put up the scam at the same time as the legit auction?
Ebay had removed the scam, and two others by the same person, a few hours after I had seen it.

puree 11-19-2004, 11:15 PM ok,,, I will be waiting on the front porch for the little white "private carrier" van,,,, I will let you know when it arrives,,,, been a pleasure doing business with ya!!!!
krellheat 11-19-2004, 11:42 PM Don't forget to leave me a positive feedback :D
puree 11-20-2004, 12:02 AM will do,,,, as soon as it arrives,,,, please do the same with my super fast pay!!!!
rjp1795 11-20-2004, 11:37 AM whats your email it to you. in the mean time i want $1,000,000 in unmarked bills. i want them all in $1 bills. i hope you can pay or i will leave negative feedback lol
Psxbs 11-20-2004, 03:09 PM Buying on ebay is not difficult nor dangerous.
I purchased my sled on ebay. Do a little research on the seller, the sled, and the transaction process. It took me about a month to find a sled that met all of my requirements.
However, I know of the scams and of course there is always someone ready to scam you.
rjp1795 11-20-2004, 04:34 PM i do argree it really depends on what kind of feedback the seller has. if there a new seller try and email them first. get to know them.
were selling something on ebay right now. its under beaver taxidermy and look for the title pedestal beaver taxidermy. sure it may say were a new seller but were really not. some one got into our account and bought a whole bunch of things and didnt pay. the result was negative feed back and our account was susspended.
if your into taxidermy bid on our item were not gunna scam you. plus it was done by us and weve had over 40 yrs experience
puree 11-21-2004, 12:01 PM ebay can be safe,,,, I have a store and sell through there all the time,,, I have had no problems thus far,,,
you can look into the sled your after all you want,,, you cant always trust the feedback number as people are stealing passwords and then using other people accounts,,,then when you email the person, I have no clue how, but they are able to grab the email before the real person can and they respond,,, you may think you are dealing with "goodsled20" out in Denver Colorado,,, but you actually could be dealing with badguy1 in Clevland Ohio and he is just waiting for you to pay,,,, they get a couple of sleds through then dump everything they got with the user ids and start over,,,,
I personally wouldnt buy a sled off ebay unless I could drive and see it,,,,
performancex 11-21-2004, 07:36 PM I was starting to suspect the scammers were stealing IDs. I couldn't figure why a nice lady in vermont with a long ebay history and good feedback rating would suddenly post 3 scam sled auctions.
rjp1795 11-21-2004, 08:12 PM it just shows that there is scum out there in this world :bash:
EGXCR 11-21-2004, 10:13 PM I have never and will never use ebay. They don't give 2 poops what goes on. Ebay scams are posted daily if you search a variety of forums. Ebay is joke if you ask me, a haven for theifs to offload stolen goods, wtf do you think there are so many great deals??? Guy just gets'em cheap right? LMAO
puree 11-22-2004, 08:33 AM actually that may happen, but there are also many people on ebay who sell good merchandise,,, but they dont have the huge markup that you have in the store down the road because we dont have all the overhead costs. I have a my own store, I have over 2000 auctions running right now and I have NEVER sold one piece of stolen merchandise. Everything I sell is new in the box and I beat the friendly neighborhood store because I dont have all the costs they do in running their store.
I am not against the friendly little store, just decided to go the ebay way instead as I dont have near as much to loose,,,,,

I agree with Puree, I sell stuff on there too, mainly ATV parts, but some tools as well. I am an honest guy, you just have to be careful. I found my sled on Ebay actaully. I drove to pick it up and paid cash, but I first saw it in an auction. Worked out great for me, me and my girlfriend had a nice day long trip to IN. and the seller came from IL, we met sorta in the middle, it was actually a really fun day. I would be learly of buying any motor vehicle without seeign it first, but I did buy a Vmax Motor, complete, and had that shipped (granted there was a few small issues)
