I just finished putting a 2in. riser and acerbis hanguards on my 2002 MXZ500. I have the lowest windeshield that Ski-doo makes i think they measure it as 13 in. But i want it lower! Where can i find more of a sno cross style windshield?

Here is a picture of my old 99 mxz600 i just got a 03 mxz800 rev but on my 600 i just took some tin snips marked a line across my windshield and cut it down then got the trim for the top then i bought some black spray paint and i painted the inside of the windshield so it looks solid black. I thought it turned out sweet but you can be the judge. Here is a pic :hallo1:

use your old window for a bottom template, and get some 2mil lexan from the hardware store, and cut it out. I just did this and it is custom, and cool. paint the inside any color and it looks great for a whole 35 $ investment, and you still have the stock window.

1Badtoy that looks really cool, I may do that. What kinda of paint did u use that won't chip?

Also Generis that is cool cuz when i sell it i will have the original windshield. But how did the flares come out along the sides, or is it just straight. A picture would be cool if available!

Last year I put on a higher windshield than my stock one. Apart from it deflecting more wind, I was never happy with it because it would fold at the top at high speed. It also looked dorky. At the end of the season, I went back to my low stock shield.

After reading recent post regarding cutting and painting windshields, including this one, I decided to give it a try.

I cut off about 4 inches off the top of the windshield. With the small extra piece, I did a test with regard to scuffing and painting on one half and just painting the other side. I found that scuffing made it look scratchy and for some reason the paint kind of beaded up on the surface for some reason.
So I decided to just clean and paint the windshield without scuffing the inside for paint adhesion reasons.

Man does it ever look sweet! The paint I used was a paint that is supposed to be used for over chrome so it remains shiny, but when I painted the windshield it kept the shield translucent. A very nice bonus :)

I'll try to get some pics once I get the sled out of the garage and you can see the results.

I also put the taller dorky windshield on my sled. It was much warmer but I wrecked the sled on the day I put it on. :bash: So I say the taller windshield is warmer but bad luck. Im putting my stock shorter windshield back on.
Well my point is, just beware of the colder ride with that shorter windshield.

my sled is really cold above 60mph. really really cold. kind of a speed limiting feature.

I finally managed to get a photo that shows the painted windshield on my sled. I still might trim down the height a little more, but I'll wait to see how good it is on the trails.

In this pic, you can see that it is actually see through to an extent.[attachmentid=17127]
