: Too Many Accessories?

I'd like to hook up a few more accessories, such as running lights, a power adapter for my GPS, as well as a warming device to keep it warm.

I already have hand warmers, thumb warmers, and an electric shield plug. If I have everything going at the same time, hand, thumb, shield, GPS, warmer for GPS, running lights, headlights, could I run into any problems?

There is no battery in the sled, by the way.

Since your sled is a 96 I doubt that your magneto output is that big

So you might run into problems

Todays magneto wattage is much greater then even 5 years ago

just like putting too big of a stereo system in a car without beefing up the alternator,,,, yes you can have WAY too many accesories and end up frying things,,,,

find out what the output of your charging/maganeto system is and what you'll be using.

say bye bye stator........... I think the 580's aready have some troubles with them anyways.....I know the dealership put a new one in mine cause it was fried when the previous owner traded the sled in.

When you refer to running lights are you talking about the factory lights? If you have added some on, replace them with the more efficent LED's. The GPS shouldn't take a lot of power. Why would you need a warmer for the GPS? If it's not rated for cold temps it shouldn't be used on a sled. As Paul said find the output of your lighting coil and add up what you will be running. Don't forget the brake light. If you can run them all i would think at night your high beam may suffer not to mention how all systems will operate at idle.

I think the power output of your sled may be 12V AC. This will work for warmers, lights but not for GPS.

Thanks!!! Do you have any pics of yours?

On the subject of my power, I think I'm just going to put in a battery that I can charge before each ride. Thanks for everyones input.

Nah, he should be 12V DC. He had no battery because of no electric start and no EFI.
Batterless EFI, introduced in, uh, 97 or 98, can't remember, runs 12V AC.
