So I have a new clutch installed on my sled. Is there anything special I should do to break it in? It has my old clutch kit in it. Should I make sure to use a new belt?
Will it affect anything if I run the sled with no belt on the stand for a bit and rev it up to the engagement rpm. Or is that a bad idea?

I'm not sure about a break in period but I do know that you shouldn't run the engine without a belt on, it actually says that on the primary clutch of my 94 zr580...I don't think it would be any different for newer sleds...

I know it is advisable to torque the clutch bolt to OEM spec, operate the motor through a few run/stop cycles, then loosen and re torque clutch. This assures it being well seated on the crank taper after a heat cycle.

Yeah, That might not be a bad idea on this new one. I never used to retorque the old clutch. Just torque it and go.
Thanks for the info everyone.
Guess I'll just get it all together and throw it on the stand and run through a couple easy stop and go's, probably be doing that anyway to adjust track. Then retorque clutch and be good to go.

I would say to run a few stops and go's under a load actually riding it also. Riding it on grass/ snow is different that running on the jack stand! Also mind if I ak why you replaced the clutch? I have the same sled as you and I rebuilt mine this year with 3700 miles on it.

5500 miles. Worn out moveable sheave bushings, worn out buttons.
By the time you replace all that stuff you are almost to the price of a new uncalibrated clutch. Cat supposedly stopped making just the bushing replaceable. You have to replace the entire moveable sheave.
