Could someone tell me which spark plugs I should buy for my sled. I don't have a manuel and couldn't find a chart online. 2002 Polaris 800 Edge X. They have BR9ES but I know they are the wrong ones.

I run BR9ES in my 02 600 Edge.

Why do you think your's are wrong?

I would say they are the correct ones.

Maybe the BR8Es which is a little hotter.

Hi. You can also search at www.ngk.com if you are not sure of what plug you need.
They have a database for most vehicles by make, year and model - pretty nice.

snowmobiles are under power sport! :)

It also states your plug should be BPR9ES or BPR9EVX if you are rich! :)

The issue with running BR9ES's in the domestic twins is that the stock RN57YCC Champ is a "dual heat range" plug. RN57YCC's run cooler at high rpm lake speeds, and adversly run hotter in low speed conditions. A BR9ES is a "straight range" plug. I suggest to people they can run BR9ES's for emergency purposes, but not to run long periods of WOT . The BPR9ES is an NGK equivelant, but I have no input, or experience if they work acceptable or not.

I understand NGK scrambled to come up with a cross for the Champion plug, but don't know how well they work. I'm an NGK fan, run them in all my other sleds. With all the detonation issues surrounding this motor, and the fact the Champions seem to do pretty good (easily getting through a season without fouling), I'm staying with them until I know more about the NGK. Not worth the gamble in my mind. I like this motor, don't want to have to rebuild untill it's worn out.

I've run the Polaris Champion standards in all my 800 twins. Never a problem and I think I pay $4.50 apiece USD at my local dealer. Still running the originals in the Pro x (3200 miles) and the RMK (2400 miles)

Thanks.

Very interesting.

I will toss the BR9ES and get some BPR9ES.

Or the proper champion ones.

It's funny you mention not to run fast for long periods with the BR9ES cause I did that last winter riding 85+ mph for a long time and melted my piston on the exhaust side. It got too hot. Scored the cylinder as well.

I wonder if it was from not running the dual heat range plug?

I'll never know but I won't take the chance.
