lil indy 500

I was in town yesterday, and I came across a 1998 Yamaha Mountain SRX. It has a 136" suspension with 1 3/4 track. It has 7200 km's. Not a scratch on it. The previous owner must have tooken pretty good care of it. But he drilled the rear suspension holes an inch lower to get more clearance in the back. The front of this sled is VERY low to the ground. The guy is asking $4200 cnd. Is this a good price? How fast will it go? I am worried that it isn't going to be a type of sled for me. I'm only 17 and I've been wanting a pro x 440 for jumping and stuff. Now I was thinking of going faster. lol. Will this 700 go good in the mountains? Or in deep snow in general? My brother has a 04 pro x2 800 and my cousin has a zr 800 and other cousin with a bm rev 800. Will this yamaha keep up on the lakes and trail? Are they reliable? Is it good on fuel?? How will the suspension do, will it be better than a polaris with xtra 10? Am I going to like this sled for trail riding and maybe a few approaches or is it mainly meant for going 100mph down a lake? Thanks. Jeff

Should keep up on lakes but on trails that is a diferent story
It is a longtrack and a triple so those 2 things work against you on the tight trails
It should be way better on gas then the others
As for the rear it has a 11.5 longtrack ProAction which is better on the back then the 8 incher on the regular SRXs
The skistance is also 41" which is the same as the reg SRX
It came stock with a 136X 1.5 track
Should be decent in the fluff but once again it is a triple and has the pro action which does not like the fluff(they changed the angle of approach in 2000 on the MMs for better snow capability)
Overal a nice sled IMO

SRX's are fast and reliable, good gas mileage. I haven't had any problems with my '98 SRX 700 yet. But I can't speak for the Mountain SRX's as I've never rode one.

I was considering one of these sleds but noticed there are no over sized pistons available from Royal or Wiesco.....this would make it tough to re-build unless other Yamaha triple pistons will do?

It has nicasil cylinders
aka no need to oversize pistons
