Sold and delivered my "Xcat" moneymaker, and last night picked up the 95 ZR 580 carb that has been waiting for me for 2 months. And today it has snowed the whole day. Whoo.

i had this exact sled. not the best on fuel but really fun to drive. i still think its cats best handlingsled when it comes to cornering. they are so low that they stay very flat. but you give up the suspension when that flat as well. they are realatively light, buti would sudjest getting a pair of plastic skis for it.

Started tearing into it Wednesday night, and discovered the handlebars have been bent down and back once. so I need bars. anyone have a set?
Then last night I was getting into it further, and realized there is at least one bad crankshaft bearing. Crapity.
so, i'm going outside shortly, and hopefully have the crankshaft out in a couple hours. Then, run to the dealer and back, and put it back together.
5-6 inches of show outside. I thought I was buying a sled that was ready to go. Oh well, got what I paid for ($900).

I think I have an old set of bars laying around. They're the stock bars off my '97 zert when I replaced them with a set of sno pro bars. The warmers are still connected and the wires just need to be soldered. If I still have them their all yours if you want. I don't have a use for 'em...

Thankx, that would be great. I'll keep it open as an option, and let you know next week sometime. I'm looking at a few sets from different people, and ideally I'd like a set with a riser off a ZR CCE.

After closer inspection this morning, I found the crank bearings to be good, as far as I can tell. Looseness that I felt last night was in the spline between the recoil and the crank. No big deal.
Spent the day cleaning stuff up and replacing the lower steering post bushing. Got it back together enough to take a few turns around the yard right before dark.

Just need to stud, get new carbides, replace the handlebars, and fix the hood (or find a better one).

Finally got my hood completed and back on again.
Took forever, one coat of paint per day, basically, after doing days of bondo work.
Looks pretty sharp.

Looks good. When you said 'bondo', did you mean some type of glass strand filler, or actual automotive bondo?

If that is the original hood for the sled and your secondary looks like a Poo secondary, the machine is a 97 not a 95 and in 97 they came factory with the plastic ski's.

GM.

yes, Bondo brand auto type fiberglass repair stuff.

It's not the original hood. This hood was from an EFI, possibly a '97.
The skis are plastic, but I'm sure they were stolen off another sled, too.
The manufacture date on the tunnel is NOv, 94 I think. It's registered as a '95.
