Hey guys,
Looking for some input for my 99 XC 700.
I've only started to tune this one for the past couple of days but could use some input to save time.
Looking for a better midrange needle.
From past experience, I've tuned other XC 7's for -5 to -10C using this combo.
Stock pilots
R-1371G needle
180/185 mains
My thinking for -30C would be
Stock pilots
R-1370G needle
Stock Mains
I don't want to wait until it's -30 outside to install/tune the Tempaflow, so I draw upon the almighty knowledge of this forum for help :D
Thanks

Mike, let me introduce you to Mad. Mad is going to change those needles. The questions are to which one, and will it work any better?

Looking for the ultimate set-up all the time :D
Anyhow, I don't know if anybody is following this post but I have got input from an independent tuner that has actually tested at -35C and set-up with stock pipe was as follows:
35 Pilots - 1/2 turn
R-1371G needle in #3
185/190 mains
Thanks

Mike,
What Al is trying to say is that Mad is the mad tuner. He has helped me a great deal with my machine that I had last year. Everything I did that he mentioned really worked well. Once Mad gets something in his mind, that is the way it is going to be. He ought to be called "madtuner"!!!!!!
By the way Mad, just bought a '99 700xcSP myself. Piped, clutched, etc. As always, I'll be watching to see what you do.

So Mad, are you going to be putting a real suspension under it when you get it to run right?
Have you installed/considered installing a 2" handlebar riser yet?

instead of a riser on my xc, i installed bars off an indy. put a bar pad on and it looks pretty good. mike
