I was studding my ZL 600 and I drilled 192 hole instead of 144 $&%%*^ ( this is probably the sixth sled I've studded, just screwed up) The sled has a 1.25 track, clutch kit and 144 1.325 woody's studs with 192 holes in the track *&&%$^$#%$. What do you guys think I should do? Leave it as is (do something to the holes) or buy the additional studs. &^$$#^%* Talk to me.

it wont hurt to leave the holes open, only problem is you cant get an even 144 pattern with a 192 layout. dont feel bad i did the same thing ,,,,,once!

Why wouldn't work out evenly? the difference is 48 holes. 48 lugs on the track. sounds even to me.

Dont worry the track will be fine. 192 studs would be overkill for your 600, I dont think you would get much penatration.

My XC 8 was overstudded for trail use with 192. I pulled the outside studs leaving 144 down the middle. I couldn't be happier with the end result.

Did the same thing several years ago with a sled I purchased used. Removed the studs from the outer edge and never had a problem. Don't beat yourself up over it, life's a learning experience.

A hole is a hole wether there is a stud in it or not. I wouldn't worry about them.

Thanks for the input. Just a little frustrated at first, I'm ok with it now. I hope it snows soon, I need go riding - soon!

Dont worry about the extra holes. Over the life of the track those extra holes may speed up the replacment time a little, with or without studs in them.
No biggie. Ive over studded tracks and removed some to litten things up and never had a problem.

I would just put 96 down the middle, and leave the empty holes as they are. You really don't need more than that with that sled. It wouldn't hurt to take a hot bolt and sear the unused holes, if you haven't already done so. Just take a 5/16 bolt, grind it to a point, and then heat it with a propane torch (while holding it with a vicegrips).
