I need help in installing the lower screw for the lower sprokets in a model equiped with reverse gears, i cant seem to get the screw back in .
What makes it hard is the spring loaded gizzmo thing that slides into the sproket.
Please see lower gear in picture , Im having a heck of time getting the screw to go back in the lower sprokets and have very little space for sockets and tools.

This battle is very fresh in my mind. 3.5 hours for a gear change this past weekend, and I've done this job several times before.
Patience is the word. There are no tricks to getting that bolt started.

I agree. That's the chain tensioner adjustment. Loosen it and once the sprockets are in and fully tightened, then tighten the chain tensioner finger tight.

Its undone but with reverse gears its almost impossible to tighten the lower screw, What makes it hard is the spring loaded gizzmo thing that slides into the sproket

Looks like your chaincase is quite a bit more complicated than mine was. Your sled certainly has a lot more parts to make it more difficult.
Any luck getting it back together?

YES ! Thanks for asking i did get it back together on friday night and rode over 235 miles on sunday. From another fellow snowmobilers told me to put the spring in a vise and then zip tie it on both sides and that gave the screw enough lenth to catch the threads and then i just cut of the zip ties. :christmas:

Nice idea. That's one I'll try to remember.
