I'm getting a Garmin gpsmap 76c and have an'04 F7 no battery. Does this product (http://bartswatersport.com/roadpropor12.html) look like it would work? Do you think it could be hooked up to the sleds ac accessory plug and have it charge it? It seems like it has a built in-charger? I'm trying to decide on getting a battery set-up or the polaris plug.

That looks like a great unit! The chargers that come with it are simply two plugs...one that you can plug into your standard house electrical outlet to recharge or one that apparently can be plugged into the cigarettle lighter of an automobile (assuming you would only do that while the vehicle was running?) for recharging. You could wire your sled to recharge the battery while using it, but I really don't think that's necessary. I put basically the same setup on my sled for my gps. I installed a small 12v battery under the pipes in the bellypan, then ran the wiring up to the dash. So far I've gone 2 or 3 days w/out a recharge, and probably could have gone at least another day. When we're done riding for the day, I simply unplug the battery and take it in the room for an overnight charge. I went this route instead of the Polaris plug/rectifier route because the battery allows me to run the gps while we're stopped for a trailside break, plus I can run other items of the batter if needed, ie. phone, video camera, flashlight, etc. If I had to start over with a new sled w/out a battery, I would do it the same way.

Thanks Jim. If I wanted to charge it from the sled while the sled is running, do you think I could just wire a cig. plug from the ac acc. on the sled, and plug this unit into it? Do you think the ac current out from the sled would be alright to charge it?

Your sleds AC signal won't do the job. That adapter is made for household juice (110V AC). The cigarette lighter adapters are made to run on 12V DC.

We bought 2 of these units to run our GPS's. They look great. I'm sure this bigger battery will run the GPS for at least a full day. Then just bring it inside and charge it for the next day. I'll post a picture of it mounted in my Firecat oil caddy later. They cost $38 delivered.

Just got mine in the mail. This thing is Perfect!! The picture on the web makes it look larger than it is. Should fit perfectly in an oil caddy. I plan on mounting mine just behind the muffler. Hopefully the heat from the muffler should keep it somewhat warm so it'll last longer.
I use a Garmin Legend, but with this thing I might just try my Color Garmin StreetPilot .
