Ok, we do not have near enough posts on here about our trip to the UP of Michigan in February,,, its time to generate some excitement and find out who all is attending, and what all we can expect,,, a lot of the details are still coming together, so there are some questions that can not be answered right now,,,

right now, we are trying to get a list of everybody who is going to be attending,,, please copy the list and add your name to it if you will be there ,,,,,

there are only 4 people of the list and I know many more will follow,,, lets get this going so we have a better idea on who will be attending and can get some information sent to everyone and make this trip a good one!!!!



one thing we do know for sure is that we are asking that everyone that attends to bring 2 canned good items (soup, vegtables, fruit) and we will be donating these items to goodfellows. Goodfellows is a local place in Newberry that helps the needy with food.
There will also be a get together (probably on Friday night),,, we are still getting the plans together on this one, but we will have a raffle and we will be donating all the proceeds to autism,,,, this will be a great chance to get together and meet all the different people that you have been speaking with here on swworld,,,,,

Like I have said, as of right now, just plan on hooking up one of the days with all of you. Not sure when. Defintely be bringing canned goods.

Where are you staying in Newberry? On my way to Duluth, I stayed @ the Best Western. I'd give bit a 2 thumbs up rating :thumbsup:

Kris, we are staying between the Gateway, the Super 8, and Zellars,,,,, all right across the road from each other. Any chance of seeing you there????? Would really be a great time!!!!

We have learned that we will be having some local newspapers covering the event to show those that believe we are all bad, that we do indeed do good things. We are also trying to get in touch with some magazines for coverage.
Lets keep the excitment going!!!!!!!

got a call from the hotel today,,, said nobody has reserved a room with snowmobileworld.com,,,, lets get to reserving our rooms,,,, this is a great chance to meet lots of people that you have talked to on here for some time. Rooms are not a problem, I have one I just need a new partner to share costs of truck fuel, room and that can put up with snoring.

Mikadoo, offer to supply him with some industrial grade foam pop in ear plugs. They make the sounds of the diesel generator in the bed beside you seem almost non exsistant. It is much better than having to ram tissue in your ears and hide under a stack of pillows. I have been in those situation with a fellow sledder with sleep apnea(sp). People in the next room pounding on the wall type of deal. :bash:

Mike, we are also running up I-75, but we are planning on heading up late Sunday night,,, arrive early monday morning and starting to ride then, and then we are planning on coming home Saturday midday,,,,
depending on what we end up with, I know we have 3 guaranteed, and possibly a 4th,,, maybe we could end up with a couple more coming from this way and then meet on the way up,,,, as time gets closer, we will get it figured out.
oh yeah, we are staying at the gateway instead of zellars,,, we are right across the road and Mike and Candice have always taken good care of me when visiting Newberry,,, so I try to keep my business with them

What are most doing about MI trail permits for out of state attendees? Should I just grab them when I arrive or should I order ahead of time. Looks like you can get them just up the street.

You can get them when you arrive. They are $25.00 this year. We will be in Monday afternoon.

If the weather does not change before MLK weekend I will be changing my trip and heading up Wednesday the 9th. After I get my dog to run the 5 miles out to my camp I will see about meeting up with the group. Sometimes she gets tired and rides (if I could figure out how to post pics I would show you), if so it only takes a half hour.

The trails are horrible around Paradise right now :cussing: , my Dad just got back. And it does not look to good for the next couple weeks.... but there is always LES!

If you are planning to stay at Zellars, you need to make reservations soon. The block on the rooms is lifted January 20th. It might be hard to find a room if you wait till the last minute. Especially at that rate.
