Well, i took my sled for a little 10 mile ride tonight, and when i got back, my hands stunk. Stunk insanely bad to a sweat smell from my gloves. I am sick of this because if we stop at a warm up shack or something my hands stink up the whole place, its gross. Now, how do i get rid of this stink? The gloves are good gloves so i don't wanna just garbage them.

Thanks guys,

Bauer

I would recommend a good washing of the gloves. I also have a pretty good idea that you are wearing too thick of gloves for the conditions you are riding in. 85% of the time when I ride I just wear my MX gloves because with the hand warmers on my hands stay comfortable to 5 degrees, then comes out the thicker ones.

If your worried about washing them in a machine, you can hand wash them. Or get a couple boxes of baking soda. Fill them up and leave them for a few days. Then shake out.

But I agree that your wearing too thick of gloves or have your warmers on too high.

Thanks alot guys. I wondered about washing them, but i was scared that i would screw up the fingers. Maybe i will hand wash them, but then how long will it take to dry them, because i suspect that you can't machine dry them, or can you?

As for them being to heavy, well, i am comfortable when i am riding, its just when one of us bury a sled, thats when they seem to get overly warm. I was thinking about going to some gortex snowboard gloves, but they are fairly pricey, and they seem really light to have your hands in a 60+ mph wind all day.

I do mine in the kitchen sink by hand using dish soap then hang em to dry. Once tried Fabreeze after they dried but it gave me a rash on my hands / arms.

LOL... yah, unless it's really cold, I just wear my mechanincs gloves. That's why sleds have warmers right?

I dry mine in the dryer, but low heat for a long time. It will take a few hours.

Dude you need gloves with removeable liners then...I've never had a pair of gloves stink Dry your gloves out every night man! I don't know if you can get that smell out...might need new gloves...

You should be sooo lucky to have the chance to wear gloves.............It's 74 degrees here and I'm just about sick of it. I would be happy for the chance for some stinky hands.............Just let me ride

This is going to sound absurd, but it does work to an extent. Works with old stinky shoes also. Put the gloves in a big food storage baggie and put them in your freezer or deep freezer. Leave them there for a week before removing. The idea is the extreme cold kills the bacteria that causes the stink. Then wash them normally. Should be like new after that. I have done this twice with my Bombi modular helmet liner and it worked great. No more stink. Word of advice though, wives generally do not like the idea of stinky shoes or gloves sitting next to their Häagen-Dazs. So wrap them up good with a non-see through baggie and they'll think its last months meat loaf. Worked for me once.

I've got these nylon covers that go over the handle bars that you slip your hands into. they're like big bags... the block all the wind and keep most of the heat from the handwarmers in. i usualy just wear a pair of jersey gloves, or insulated leather work gloves and my hands are toasty as could be. i went bare hand for a while, but my hands turned black because the grips started to deteroriate from the oils my hands had on them. I have a $50 pair of snowmobile gloves that i used to wear, but they never kept my hands warm.

anyways, you don't need expensive gloves with thoes nylon things so if they get smelly, or worn or whatever just buy a new pair.
