I went for a ride last night to buddies place, just be fore I got their, my sled felt boggy. When I got their it seems like it wants to take off and wont let the it idle high than 500 rpm. It seems that the primary clutch is engaging as soon as you start it up. I pulled the clutch off and the primary spring looks to be okay. When the clutch is on the sled you can move the outer clutch plate in about 1/2 inch or more. This to me does not seem right. .
Any body have any ideas to what might be wrong or broken?

You should not be able to move the sliding part of the primary at rest. Either your spring has lost it's strength or you left out the movable insert. Is the jam nut tight that the spring fits into?

Does skidoo have a jam nut? I thought that was polaris clutches. I was thinking that my spring seat broke? The spring is held into place with the spring cover assembly.

Sounds like somthing is binding you need to disasemble and check the arms and bushings.
Go to tech center there is a pinned topic on TRA dissasemly and inspection.
Good luck hope you get it fixed!

My 1st thought was that the 3 allen screws which hold the spring in place stripped and let lose? With it apart, there is a steel washer/spacer which sits under the spring before compressing it. Is it there cause that would trick the clutch into thinking it had a softer spring in it and would also allow the moveable sheave to slide with your hands. Has this always been the case or just all of a sudden?
