I'm debating buying a GSX 550 fan for the wife? This will be my first doo so I guess I might be joining the family. I was just wondering what anybodies thoughts were on this sled. What are the pros and cons? Any advice would be much appreciated!

personally I would say go with a liquid...better snap and you can drive them any weather with out any worries....just my opinion though.....but i do like the comfort of the GSX.

from the talk of the magazine people they say the 550 will keep a 600 ho in the cross hairs where there are twisties.

The 550 fan is a great engine. It's got real good punch and pulls hard up to 50mph and flattens off from there but will hit 82mph with no problem on the lake. It's the nicest fan cooled motor Ive ever experienced (though I havent rode a Cat 570). Not bad on gas and remember - in a REV chassis they are incredibly light!!. IMO it's a great deal and it's alot cheaper than a GSX 500 SS. It should suit her just fine.

Thought that it would be a good idae to rent one for a day to let my wife get some confidence on the sled as long as it doesn't spoil her. Right amout of power, light, and good position.

what i think can't be beat about the 550 is the value.

the 550 is a great motor and the rev is a great chassis

there has been excellent reviews about the rev fans

i would say go for the 500SS is your wife is a experienced rider or likes the power...ow, the 550 GSX is great :)

I agree with everyone. If your wife is not a die hard rider and need a 600 L.C then the 550 is great.
Fan cooled is good on gas, lower insurance. Excellent ride and comfort on the REV chassis.

snowGoer's biggest complaint was that it only goes 60mph.
