Hi guys, I've been reading this site for years and just joined. I have a few questions for anybody with 1132 D&D motor, V-Force Reeds, bored carbs, bored cases, power breather and pipes. I was just wondering what you have for a setup at 1,000-2,000 foot elevation for pilot jet, main jet, needle jet, jet needle and air & mixing screws. Ran D&D specs for radar runs, ran great all season. Tried trail riding last season and fried a piston even after talking to D&D and making changes for that. Anyone have any info??
Thanks for any Help!!

Carburation is a tricky thing, especailly on these particular engines and there are so many variables with your engine not too many ppl will have the exact same motor and conditions Your best bet is to try and figure out which circuit is lean and go from there and these big engines dont like to be ran lean like a 440 or 600(and lets face it you didnt buy this motor for the fuel milage, and if your worried about it then your just going to end up wasting more money on rebuilding the thing) how many mm did you get your carbs bored to? i am running a set of 48mm megatrons on my "fairly" stock 1000
and it sorta has to do with the way you ride, if you end up doing a bit more slow cruising thru the trails(or get stuck behind people moving slow alot) make sure the 1/4 to 1/2 circuit is a little on the rich side, and you have a 1132 motor under the hood, a lil rich wont hurt ya from corner to corner anyway (and if you are a lil worried when you are riding thru the trails and driving slow for some reason, or you check your plugs and notice that they are a lil light or grey, depending on the type of carbs you are running, which i am guessing are flatslides you can easily just lift the needles right up and richen in a bit who knows it might get ya home) anyway ill shut up haha
have a good one

Thank you for your answer 1000. Yes they are bored flatslide carbs to 41.7 and I have the needles raised to the top clip, I believe they are the stock needles yet but you know how hard they are too READ!! It came back from D&D that time and wouldn't even idle!! Had too go from 45 pilots to 55 pilots and 440 mains to 460 mains just to get plugs tan for speed runs. The sled ran real good on that, ran 124 in 1000ft. on radar which I thought was alright. Have egt sensors on the pipes and when I tried trail riding temp would go up like crazy!! Raised needles to top clip and helped but after 200 miles POOF!!! middle cyl. went down. Water temp is always around 165. It's a 2000 T-Cat with 01 cdi and airbox is gutted with power breather on top. Looked in A.C. manual and I think they are the biggest needles you can get. What next? Never did check jet needles but D&D said they are plenty big,can remove them I guess after they bored the carbs. How well do you like the 48's I got a set of them also and thought of trying them also(easier to work with anyway!}.Well since I blabbed your ears off thats what I got right now, just don't want to buy pistons and send off jugs to get fixed again. {NOT CHEAP!!} THANKS!!

well you should try the 48's you'll need new manifolds but whatev eh hahaha anyway when you put these carbs in you will have to run a needle like the 9-1XL(i think thats what they are) thats what i have in my full race 1000 anyway if you choose to keep the flatslides id say you should give it a lil more fuel get the plugs to be a lil on the mid brown to dark brown(rich engines dont burn down haha) these bigger engines like to have a lil extra fuel in em to run nice especailly on the 1000 foot runs your sled at about 800 feet does it sorta stop accelerating real hard??? anyway ill probably post another message ill read your post a lil better and probably find out i missed something see ya
