:bash: i have a 1997 storm 800 this sled runs mint starts first pull every time i was working on a friends sled he had a compression tester so for the fun of it it tested mine it only had 120 psi per piston i called my local dealer they told me it should have 140 my question is why does it run mint start mint what should i do also the sled only has 2000 miles please help the season is right around the corner

Just wondering if the test was valid.
The engine needs to be warmed up for at least 5 minutes, all plugs removed, and the throttle held wide open to achieve max compression, and about 3 fast pulls on the rope. Tester may not be accurate either.
On another note. If it runs good... don't worry about numbers. Enjoy. :wink:

no it wasn't even started before i tested it but i did hold the throttle open my tester directions said to pull it till the needal no longer climbed i ride close to my house but this year we have two rides 5 hours away and im a worry wort i should have not tested

Ride it. 120 cold is fine - as long as they were all within a couple pounds of each other.

just add a few drops of oil to the cylinder and retest, to see what ideal compression should be. mike
