Ok here's the deal. I have a 1982 mirage 2. engine was rebuild carbs cleaned etc...etc.....

Anyways last winter I had some issues with it towards the end. SUmmer comes and I found out it was just a loose ground. Checked it a few times this summer started up first pull everytime with easy.(last started about 2-3 months ago)

So I figure problem fixed just have to wait for snow.

Snow comes go to start it and I have no spark whatsoever. I haven't touched it moved it or played with any wiring and last time it fired up no prob.

Even when all wiring is disconnected from the engine it won't start when it allways has in the past.

It's getting gas and the plugs are new.

Any ideas as to what could just screw up while it's just sitting there untouched?Anything I can check/test to figure out what the problem may be?

It's a 377 rotax NO points wires only coming from stator to cdi to coil to plugs at the moment and like I said it allways started like this as it should

Any help would be great

It sounds like you possibly have a bad wire/connection. Mice like to chew up wires. Could this be the case? Good luck!

I disconnected the wires down to the basics. Like I said the only wires connected are stator to cdi to coil to plugs. All seem fine and engine normally starts with just these wires.

Can a cdi or coil just go overnight without use?

The wiring is so basic it can only be the stator the cdi or the coil any ideas?

A cdi can work good when it's warm and not work AT ALL when it's cold. Try this........ Put the c.d.i. in the oven for 10 minutes (oven set at 200 F) And with it warm, put it in the sled and immediately try starting it, or checking for spark. If the machine starts, u need a new CDI or you have to heat it up every time you wanna go riding.
Who knows, just something to try that don't cost anything.
Also, to see if it's your coil, put a 12V test light on the power wire comming out of your CDI (the one that goes to the coil) If the light comes on when you try to start it, but you have no spark.......then your coil's gone.

The C.D.I box is probably shot. Another way of checking is bringing it to a snowmobile mechanic and they will run a bench test. They will tell you if its bad. And if it is, it'll cost ya around 60 bucks. I had to replace mine last winter.
