Did anyone run the Old TOP A trail last winter that runs southeast from Hearst to Hornepayne? We did it back in 2000 & '01. It's around 94 miles & the sleds we had are decent on gas, so we didn't have to stop @ Bambinos. We did the new TOP A in '03. Just wondering if the old trail is still usable.
If anyone is in the area this winter, ask about the trail.
Thanks

We ran the newer trail north from Hornepayne to Bambino's the second week of Feb. Some of it was nice, but alot of it was ploughed. I was told that the trail directly to Hearst was not being groomed at the time.

This winter's North of Superior map shows old TOP A & the new route, while the Northern Corridor map shows a dead end trail down to Copell, south of Hearst. This is the 1st sign of civilization you see when you rode the old trail to Hearst.

The trail will definatly NOT be groomed this year, they're going to abandon it. As for whether it will still be usable or not is another question. For that you'd have to talk to some locals.

Well then they should take it off the map then  Maybe w/ the added traffic Bambino's will be able to redecorate the restaurant.

that would be a sin. I would say renovations instead of redecorating, as long as its standing thats the main thing.

I checked the '04/'05 Come Play in the Snow map & they're showing the old route in addition to the current TOP A as well.
