: Exciter 570 Ii ( Sx ) 1993
Lasse 12-16-2004, 05:43 AM :) Hello !
I just bought a Yamaha Exciter 570 II ( SX ) 1993 , to my wife.
It's in mint conditon and only 5000 Km. on it and just one owner before her.
It also have a 1" Challenger track.
Since I never have owned a Yammi before I'm kind of a rookie on it.......
( I'm a ROTAX lover :inlove: )
* What modification works on this machine and what isn't working on it ?
* The "TSS" front suspension springs. Do somebody know if there are different springs ( Soft / Medium / Hard ) or what ?
* Clutch set up ?
All help/infomation that I can get is highly appreciated.

FreezerBurnt 12-17-2004, 10:24 PM best Yamaha till the SX 700 came out
93hp for the SX 570(Dynotech #s btw)
The compression can be adjusted on the TSS on those 93 SX Exciter, there is a knob of some sort on the top of the struts

Yes I'm aware of that adjusting.
But can anybody tell if I could buy some stiffer springs ??

gman086 12-23-2004, 02:05 AM I think this forum section should be re-named LATE model Yamaha sleds - I had an Exciter spring question earlier too and got the same lack of response. I can tell you that Bender used to carry a full line of front springs from straight rate to progressive. I put in their 1" drop kit (lowers the front 1" for better stability) and put in the white coded progressive springs (stiffest ones) and that thing rocks to this day! The only other major upgrade you'll want to do is get plastic skis or at least ski skins and some larger diameter wear bars like the Woody's 1/2" or Shaper bars - really makes my sled rail corners. My buddies on their SRX's are all chasing ME on my ol' '87 on the trails because they're pushing badly in corners!

alscool 12-23-2004, 07:57 AM my buddy just sold his, never a problem except the sliders stuck to the track once. 16000+ km and never opened!
thunder219 01-09-2005, 05:35 PM I just sold mine last year but I never had a problem with it. I put on an Aaen pipe and clutch kit. I think but not sure with the pipe the hp rating was around 105 and sounded really good.

For the springs not sure never heard of an upgrade for them. just always tightened them for stiffness with the adjustment screw.
Mods that I did to mine. PSI performance pipe, upped the jets to 157.5's (works best in our cold weather), changed out the primary and secondary springs for quicker upshift and put in a Higher degree helix in the secondary. Fuel mileage suffered but midrange and top end were much better. can hang with my bro's SRX600 from a dig till about 130km/h then he starts walking.
Lasse 01-28-2005, 03:33 AM Yestrday I put on a BENDER single pipe,
What a wheight saving !!!
I also put in 157,5 mains instead of the 155 mains.
Always when I start the engine the TORS lamp on the dash board comes on.
Should it be like this ??
What is TORS ??
The cables from the carburetor are not connected to any cable from the wire harness.
I can't find the cables for it.
Should it be like this ?
HELP !!
jayyyyy75 01-31-2005, 12:48 AM TORS stands for Throttle OverRide System I believe. I think what it basically does is retard the ignition if your throttle becomes stuck. When I first start my sled, the TORS light flashes 3 or 4 times then goes out. Pretty sure that is normal, I wouldnt worry about it.

Well what specifically do you want to know?
One word of advise, if you are noticing that the light goes off when turn the steering there is usually a break in the wiring harness. You can replace solder the area but it usually breaks again or the wiring gets so brittle it's unrepairable. usually need a new wiring harness. Just had it done.
the Tors-throttle override system. Has a small sensor on the throttle position cable atached to the carbs. the piece that holds it in place is made of plastic and can break easily as I found out. If this happens just plug the wiring into each other and it disables the TORS without having any problems. Just an issue if throttle gets stuck. It will flash three times to check the system it's normal.
Front shocks heard of no replacements, the adjustment nut on top will really help with riding style. It works soft if you want cushy ride and hard it your an aggresive carver through the whoops.
If you still have the shorty windsheild on it, highly recommend changing to a medium height sheild as the shorty gives absolutely no wind protection and it all hits the neck when your riding. Your wife will thank you.
They are good sleds, with decent power. I don't know what you are really looking for. Maybe more specifics as to what you want? :dazed:
One last thing upgrade your rear shocks to Ryde/fx or other. It will really help in the whoops for the back.
Exciter SX 01-02-2006, 12:43 AM I'm having trouble with my 93 Exciter over revving. It only over revs while under full throttle but after about 3 seconds, the rpms drop back to 7800. Why does it only over rev for a few seconds. Is my problem in the primary clutch?
I love my exciter sx. I have owned it for 8 years and have never had trouble keeping up with 600 class sleds till about 80 mph.
My snowmobile cover is in shreds. Does anyone know if Phaser II covers work on Exciter SX. Because the Exciter SX is wider than the other Exciters, I am not sure they will work on '93s.

My sx would over rev as you described, in my case the clutch would get wet and slip. Snow was coming in the bottem of the side panel, a litle duct tape over the opening.
Hope your fix is this easy.
I doubt the covers are the same, the sx is a lot bigger.
