HEy , i have a 99 arctic cat 700 ps that just wont stay running. it will not start from just tugging on the cord alone. i have to put gas in the cylinders and it fires right up for a very breif amount of time. if i try and throttle it, it will start reving up and suddenly die. Has anyone else had to deal with this and know a fix

Thanks :cussing:

Carbs dirty? Blocked fuel line? Got gas in the tank (I'm not trying to be sarcastic). Got an air leak, ie lean condition as in the carb boots are cracked? How long has it been sitting? It could be that the fuel lines have lost their prime and they just have air in the lines.

Find the vent line from the fuel tank and blow in it. Watch the fuel lines to follow the fuel moving in the lines while you pressurize the system. If you have not done the preseason cleaning of the carbs you could have a plugged pilot jet and other passages. Remove the old fuel from the tank and fill with fresh before doing anything.

I would expect that by the time you finish doing the following maint items it will be up and running.........
*drain / replace gas in fuel tank
*inspect fuel filter / replace if blocked
*clean and inspect carbs / replace jets if any foreign material found / don't try cleaning them
*adjust choke cables / confirm their operation
*check impulse line to fuel pump
*new plugs
*check / replace if nec fuel lines including pick-up line in your fuel tank

All normal stuff that should be done each and every year.
Happy sledding
Rick

Find out the reason for no fuel as mentioned above.
