I purchased a new 12 ft drive on/drive off v-nose trailer this year, and can't figure out where to mount the spare tire carrier. All the mounts I've seen attach to the tongue, but the way the ramp attaches to the front of the trailer, the tire would be in the way. Anyone have this problem before and figure out a mounting option? I hate to just carry the spare in the back of the SUV....................

If you were to mount it close to the hitch on the tongue it still interferes with the ramp? thats weird i have seen trailers with v nose and still mounted on the fron.... hmmm>?

Mine just lays on the floor of the trailer.

I'm the the same boat. My trailer jack is in the way though. If not for that it would fit but it would be tight.G

Yew, it's hard to believe, but no matter where on the tongue the mount is placed, the tire gets in the way of the sled coming down the ramp. It's almost like the trailer tongue needs to be a foot longer or something. I'm wondering if the spare can be attached to the underside of the trailer?

I designed and had fabricated tire carriers that fit up inside the frame work of the trailer (up from the bottom), right in front of the trailer tires that are on the axles. Basically, the tire sits on a carrier that's swivels down out of the trailer frame, right in front of the tire that needs changing. Once I change the tire, I put the bad one on the carrier and swivel it back up into the trailer frame and it's latched with a large hitch pin. I'll see if I can get some pics.

By the way, my trailer (X-treme) had the perfect dimensions of the underneath frame work to allow my size tire to fit up inside it. I'm sure most would work, but some different fabricating techniques would have to be thought up.

The folks at X-treme in Montrose Michigan have the plans I sent them, and I'm sure they took some pics.
