My MXZ mysteriously shut down on a quick blast of the throttle.
It was immediatly hard to pull over so I manually rotated the cluch and then it fired right up. I have just had it rebuilt with fresh pistons and put 300 ml of oil in with the full tank. I have some 60 kilometers on the engine and the injector oil still seems full but the tank is down 3/4. The plugs are nice and clean with a little brown on then, seems right.

Is there some sorta of saftey shut down on this sled?

p.s. it was deadly cold last night.

I have the same sled and I'm not aware of any safety shutdown equipment on the sled, except the kill switch. I would do a quick compression test on the motor and ensure there is no more than a 15% difference in compression between the two cylinders. Also, investigate why the injection oil tank isn't showing usage. Is there a leak? Is it adjusted per spec? Also, when she shut down were there any odd "noises"? Where did they come from? Remember, that 300ml of oil is EXTRA during break in. The motor still requires its "usual" amount as fed thru a properly adjusted oil pump. Good Luck.

What pistons did you put in. If Wiseco you need a larger piston to cylinder clearance. You might have seized it up for a second. ooops. or the thermostat might have opened and too cold for it and, yup SQUEEEEEK. I would pull the Y pipe and have a look.

There is a safety shut down but it is for over temp. The heat light will come on and if it gets too hot will shut the motor off. Atleast my 1999 600 would....
