: Pantera leaking coolant from rear?

I just picked up a '97 Pantera for the wife & I to cruise on. The guy swore it had no problems. But now I find coolant leaking in the back near the heat exchanger. I think he knew and wanted to dump. The wife thought he was being honest but now we're stuck!

Anyone know what might be wrong. After shelling out $3500 it kind of makes you a little MAD!

I'm assuming it's a 580. *My '95 leaked under the seat - I've heard of this on other 580's too. *It turned out being loose clamps. *Tightened them and no more problems (until the waterpump gasket started leaking). *Check the clamps out.

I agree. *Before you get too upset, check out the clamps. *Unless you have a crack or a cut in the heat exchanger, it can't be too serious. *Maybe just a cracked hose, if not a loose clamp. *Don't be too hard on the guy who sold it, that stuff can happen just due to age.

Thanks for the replies to my problem. I guess I'm too honest but if my machine leaked it would be fixed BEFORE I sold it. What if I was way out on a trail & got stranded?

Not a good way to get into a new hobby. I know it's buyer beware and all but how do people sleep at night when they're being deceitful?

I'm going to rip the seat off & see what's going on as soon as I can. But I'm very, very disappointed

Could have happened over the summer and did notice it yet... I doubt he would dump the sled just because it had a simple coolant leak.

That's what my problem was, leaking clamps at the heat exchanger. Kind of a pain to get the seat up high enough to get at but I fixed it in an hour or so. Guess I better get a repair manual, sleds are nothing like bikes or ATVs.[/b][/quote]
It's now fixed.

It's great when it's something simple. *Now if I could only find an easy way to change my water pump gasket...
