94mxz470 12-22-2004, 12:58 AM from what iv seen so far im lookin at around 70-73 horse @ 7350 rpm thats about it anything that breaks or wears would be nice info to things to look for and what not thanks guys and girls
Rad Chad 12-22-2004, 06:32 AM That looks like a 93 to me. Unless someone has changed the hood along the way. 93's were the first ones ever. crappy shocks, no hydraulic brake, ape hanger bars. 94's had rebuildable HPG's, straight bars, Hydraulic brakes. An X package was offered to racers on the 94 which gave it new cylinders (still no Raves but provisions for them) And some clutch stuf to make her go. These were great sleds. A few of my buddy's had them. One raced and did ok. They both put many hard trail miles on them. Held up to alot of crap. Tough sleds.

FreezerBurnt 12-22-2004, 09:19 AM Ya that is a 93 MXZ 470
check the front rails on the rear suspension were the front arms bolt
mine ovaled out
Buddy of Jawz 12-22-2004, 02:11 PM Looks like a 93 to me as well. Gonna have to change your sign in name now. :D :bash: Not sure about the chasis, I had a 95 Z and it seemed good. The motor though, is great. Decent torque, good top end, for year and weight. My 88 Mx just went and went and went. Good luck.
Grimm 12-22-2004, 03:23 PM What a great poll :p I voted, did anyone else?
94mxz470 12-22-2004, 09:58 PM sorry it is a 94 with a 93 cab my buddy cracked the other one so thats why it has got the 93 cab thanks for all the info guys lots of help so far
FreezerBurnt 12-22-2004, 11:38 PM The sled in the picture has a 93 Cab btw
revrnd 12-22-2004, 11:45 PM FB & the others are correct. That is a '93 hood. The '93 MX in the F chassis was a limited build along w/ the Mach Z. I think that hood is fiberglass as well.
My sister in law had a '94 & ran it for 4 seasons & no problems w/ it other than burning up the LH drive axle bearing early the second season.
Buddy of Jawz 12-23-2004, 08:06 AM 93 graphics at least. And yep I voted. :lmao:
FreezerBurnt 12-24-2004, 12:17 PM plus 93 was the only year the MXZ 470 had a black belly pan and tunnel
in 94 they went silver belly pan and tunnel(silver/yellow =yuck IMO)
Ya Kris is right about the fiberglass cabs, they cracked near the front mounts easily then in 94 they went to the flexible cabs
Nice dependable sled and very good on gas
BTANK 12-24-2004, 12:32 PM they were a great sled and engine just about bullettproof.
My old man has a 95 MX 470 and still runnin like a champ. Dont have the performance is used to back in the day but everyonce and awhile on a good day i can pull the skis about a foot of the ground. . But its still gets him from point A to point B.
Best

94mxz470 12-25-2004, 06:37 AM well i raced this v-max 600 with it and he read SKI DOO all the way the feild so i guess either his sleds slow or my sleds fast. however i still have one friend that thinks his 88 Polaris 400 with 96 studs will eat mine . i let him try my MXZ and he doesnt come side by side to me on minnow lake anymore :( so yeah it is a nice little quick sled for the weight of it. feels like a tank compared to the Indy but a good power to weight ration always prevails i guess :blahblah: :blahblah:
94mxz470 12-25-2004, 06:49 AM One other thing i was wondering if a 583 engine would bolt right into that sled with no modifications i need more power just like everyone else and was wonderin about a little 470 sleeper with the 583 r.a.v.e under the hood is it easy to do any one try this yet ? thanks for the info
Buddy of Jawz 12-25-2004, 02:06 PM A 580 non RAVE should fit right in. Not sure about the 583
The 470 should not have a huge problem with Indy 400's.
FreezerBurnt 12-25-2004, 06:02 PM a 779/809 Mach Z triple would fit
a 700 Mach I triple would fit
a 600 F3 will fit
a 670 would fit
so would the 583 as well as the 580
a 440 rave would fit(95-98)
All those engines can be found in the same F chassis
even a 521 would fit as it has the same bottom end as the 583/580
also a 617 would fit
but remember you will need the right jetting, the right pipes and clutch set ups
and with the triples you also need the airbox from the triple
I know of a few 94 MXZ with 617s and 670s in them in the Sudbury area also I believe MXZoom( member here) has a 94 MXZ with the 583
BTW what ya doing on Minnow lake???
Aren't sleds not allowed on that lake plus it is kinda small
and yes you will blow away the Indy 400 with ease
personnally be happy with the 470 or sell the sled and get the bigger sled instead of spending the $600-800 for a legit(legal) engine
ndsleder 12-26-2004, 04:14 AM I have a 94 MX470 with just under 5,000 miles on it. It is bulletproof, and fast enough to keep up with most sleds on the trail. The only thing I don't like about it is the inside ski lifts easy, and lack of rear suspension.
94mxz470 12-30-2004, 06:24 AM well this sled has seen better days so far this winter it is for sale for $1.500.00 if no one wants it then it's getting the 583 with the pipes clutches etc also does any one have skis i sorta ran the plastic ones off of it could i just jam on skins with runners and get away with that and if so what type would fit on these skis thanks alot guys the guy with the indy finally gave in and said mine has way more top end hehehehe
