Heads up. I have seen 2 small writeups in the papers mentioning this law, but nothing on the radio or TV. Ontario has adopted a law similiar to the law that several US states have. If you are approaching a stopped emergency vehicle on your side of the highway you are to slow down & if it is safe to do so move over to pass @ a distance.

If people had common sense and respect this would never have been a law.Unfortunately we live in an age of declining morals, sad but true.Everyone is in a hurry but they don't give a crap about others. :(

I'm with you Sawman, :( Just look at the morality and good cheer at mall parking lot this time of year. Everyone is so self important that the have forgotten respect, fair play and common courtesy. :bash:
Merry Christmas,

I believe this law has been in effect for the past year or more, but nobody seems to know about it. The New VR had a bit about it on their nightly news about 6 months ago and that's how I learned about it.
I agree with Sawman, though... a little common sense would prevent the need for a law like this.

we have had it hear for a while already. If they are stopped along the hiway you must slow to either 50 or 60 kmh to pass, if not, they have the right to give you a nasty fine. I think it is good though, i mean, if i was having to get out of my car along the highway for my job, i sure woudn't like people buzzing by me at 110 kmh. I agree though, a little common sense goes a long way...... with EVERYTHING!!

Same as Saskatchewan....... 60 Km/h when passing an emergency vehicle with it's lights flashing (towtrucks included). Fines are HUGE....... something like $400 if you go by at 110 Km/h.

My oldest son is a licence technician and works exclusively on ambulances. They quite often have to shuttle them and he says you can't believe how many times he has been cut off on the road. No respect out there anymore.
