Well I think I have the wife hooked on Sledding.
We were outside with are two daughters 4 and 2 years old. Both of them love to ride with me on sled around the house and my 4 year comes out with me on the trails.
Well tonight my wife decided to try out sledding. She sat on my 01 MXZ 800. She love the feel but too much power. She sat my 86 Phazer and she loves it . Just the right size and power for her.
My beautiful wife decided to take are youngest for a ride around the yard and after 20 min she came back with a smile ear to ear. You remember the smile the same one we all had the first time we rode a sled for the first time.
All she can say is how much she loves to drive the sled. I told her that next year we can find her a smaller MXZ 440 or something. Her reply "why wait till next year."
Well I guess as soon as we get back from Panama I going to have to start looking for a third sled.

This has now become an expensive family recreation outting.
OH Well just another person hooked on the sport.

It's a good thing that she wants to ride. You'll get more riding in too. Just have to wait for her at the stop signs. Wait until the kids want one too!

Frances wants a REV?????? Sorry D!!! :lmao:

The wife being hooked can only help you BigDaddy!!!! At least now she will understand your insane addiction, instead of thinking of you as some wierdo that can't get this out of your head for even one month of the year. It's definitely good for the whole family, your girls will have many, many memories of the family sledding.

I'm afraid what might happen if she gets the urge for a 800. When she was driving last night she tried to go as fast as possible around the yard. She did pretty good with a 480. I can just imagine what she will try with a 800.

Sorry LadyK no samples but 10% off for SW Members just PM me.

just cut and paste into your browser. www.fantasiaottawa.com

I am only 17, so i don't have to worry about this for the time being, but, i ride with a couple of guys my dads age (my dad doesn't sled, but i go with them anyways lots of times), and they usually bring their wives along. We usually just ride the back trails through the valleys around our houses (all within 6 miles of eachother). The ladies do fairly well, and they have a great time usually. They can handle some pretty rough terrain that makes me work to get through some times, and they climb all the hills and stuff that we do, and they don't usually even think twice about it. One rides a 340 and the other a 440. We do usually have to wait up for them a bit, but it doesn't matter, they told us to drive as fast as we wanted, just don't leave them to far behind and not wait. So we usually have a good time sledding. Lots of times we are almost ready to take off home and they will make us do another 20 miles because they aren't yet, Thats the kind of lady i want to have riding with me.

Yeah, I remember riding around our 150 acres too and thinking I was invincible on the 377 Citation :D .*
Little did I know that when hubby took me on the trails it would be a whole different world w00t .*
I got to go as fast as I wanted and where I wanted in the very flat (unused for years) field but apparently it wasn't fast enough on the trails and I definitely was not prepared for the bumpy hills, bumpy trails, overhangs, 90 degree turns straight up a hill to catch the next trail oh and the worst....WATER :undercover: .
Till this day I absoulutely refuse to ride the Oro Hills (right beside Horseshoe Valley Ski Resort).* If you see a sled heading straight down 22 that's me  .
*
Just the other night while gassing up in Midland I got Andydragon (bless his heart) to reroute our minute ride back to the trail because I hate being sideways on my sled.* You look up and see more hill, you look down right onto the road.* Call me a coward if you want but I have no desire to wear a 543lb sled :whistling: .* Don't get me wrong, I love sledding and the boys let me do my own pace (and make detours when I need to), but it's still frustrating that I can't keep up with them :cussing:.*

My Mach does most of the work for me now which in turn has increased my confidence and I have increased my speed but I'm still* over cautious on trails.* Trails I know like open fields or the frozen lakes I will push my 670 to half throttle and I did go 80mph (yes I said MPH).* What a rush that was  .* Fifteen years of sledding and three sleds later I'm finally feeling my helmet lift.* I'm working on the big one double donut, but in my own time and it's so pleasing to see hubby lift his face shield with a big grin and give me the thumbs up  .*

And last but NOT least.....Final words from a sledding wife:*
Dress her up warmly; don't take her on multi hour rides until she gets comfy.* Try to keep her close to you. I still get nervous on a trail when I can't see the lead's tail light, even though I know he's sitting at the next fork or stop sign.*
DON'T YELL AT HER!!!* Praise her every chance you get and let her make the pace.* You'll have a sledding partner for life.* Hubby still gets out lots with the boys (I encourage it) and I stay home :) .

Hey guys re-read the above quote taken from Onthinice, sound advice from the "other side" for getting your girl out sledding.
I got my wife her first sled last year and put her on it. She had NEVER driven one on her own before and I was worried it would just sit in the garage all year. After a few painfully slow rides with the just the 2 of us we decided to run with a bunch that consisted of mostly couples. Yes she was always last to the next stop sign or Y in the beginning of the year but the look in here eyes and the smile hidden under her mask always made it worth it.
When we run with a group someone always runs sheepdog or sweeper (usually me) to make sure the girls are comfortable with where we are going. The fear that they show of being lost or left behind is usually more painful on the guys faces at the next stop as they get yelled at.
What I got out of this is a wife that loves sledding, she did close to 1000 miles last year. Everything in the winter revolves around the weather and riding. Now when we go for over nighters all I have to do is get the sleds ready. Nice to have someone to remember to pack clean clothes because I sure wouldn't remember that stuff!

I can't blame her, all you have to offer is a Cat :( LOL

My GF rides and really enjoys it, She is kinda slow, but I try not to rub it in too much. If she is goin too slow and I am getting bored I tell her that my sled is "starting to load up" and I need to open it up for a little while so it will run right.LOL Just lie to em, works for me  Another thing get her a sled with reverse and ES. You don't want to pull start 2 cold sleds, ladies like the ability to back up as well.
