I know the spring controls the opening rate but how do you adjust the preload properly when running aftermarket pipes and cans that have less backpressure to open the raves

the crankshops twins we got came with the proper springs. I have seen ,but I do not suggest(only to the mountain guy) by turning the red cap out you can loosen the preload ,it does so by backing off the spring tension.I only say to do this to guys climbing altitude and needing to do so for a short time, which go back to the full in position soon after. not saying you couldn't do so and have good luck,I just prefer not too do it that way. p.s. I think it was fett bros. who have the pop-up plugs to see when they(rave valves) open and to get them in sync.

I understand this about backing them off. But what I am after is how do you actually set the preload properly? Say if the raves caps we out. How many turns do they go in and how is this determined. What are the factors?

just turn the rave caps all the way in until they dont go in any more, they both stop at the same spot when turned all the way in...... (if thats what u wanted to know)
