i have a 02 t-cat with a ss skid. found a zr 900 skid in great shape. question is where should i start with the adjustments for trail ridding should the shocks be re valved for the extra weight of the t-cat also i am about 230 240 lbs with gear and the springs sag deffinatly needs heaver ones dealer tech said to take only one two up spring and cut it to fit as the next heaver spring will be to much friend says to kink the old ones but how long will that last ? the ss would just float over anything but can't keep the shocks toghter and this design came from snow cross ha probly the kitty cats :casing: :bash: will i have to change the mounting locations to fit it in the tunnel i wouldn't think so but who knows this is diffinantly the best site on the web SWRules

My father-in-law recently did much the same thing you have suggested. He has a 2003 ZL600EFI SS and was not happy with the SS skid frame. He picked up a nearly new 2003 ZR 800 EFI Cross Country suspension and dropped it into the ZL. He goes about 250 lbs in full riding gear. Our local dealer ordered the heavier springs and the skid works great. Use the same mounting location and you should be fine. Your dealer sounds VERY 2nd rate. Call the LumberJack Shack in Imlay City, Michigan and talk to Dave or Brian. 1-810-724-0743

I've got a similar line of questioning for a 2000 ZR600... the guy I bought this from had the shock revalved softer for his wife. With a clutch kit the holeshot is great, but the torque makes the rear end squat hard--even without my 220lbs. on the seat. The track has 1.25" lugs and I'm looking into studding it, but I'm worried they're going to rub the tunnel. Is the route to go a stiffer spring, a stiffer shock valve, or both?

I've looked into revalving and my closest dealer says $150 with parts. Kimpex offers a shock and heavy duty spring that will run me close to the same--is this a better route to go? Any input would be helpful.
