I am looking for a seconf sled: Either any year Phazar,
V Max twin or a Mtn Max Twin. I am looking for something light, agile almost a ditch banger that the wife can drive but I can also go out and play on. I have about $2000-2800 CDN to spend.

I like the older Phazars 1991, but also like the V Max 1997-2000 Models as they seem to have some good creature comforts.

Most importantly I want a light powder type of sled that is VERY reliable.

Thanks for you input.

Comments on problems with any sled is greatly appreciated.

Andrew

I have a 2000 phazer and absolutly love it. You can whip it around with no effort and for ditch banging it rocks. Nice ride, light, reliable, cheap price. The only downfall is on the lake where the liquid cooled machines leave you in the dust but I have my revenge on the trails over those big #######s.

May have found a 1997 Mountain Max 600cc. Did these sleds have the same problem as the vmax ie the premature ring failure

I'm a little biased but the only time my Phazer has died on the trail is when I have run it out of gas!! I have 4500km on mine and ride it very hard. The older Phazers only have 6in of front & rear travel; the newer ones like Andy 500's have the new chassis with a better ride (same reliable motor).

I like front struts as they take a lot of abuse....I hit a tree with mine on the weekend doing about 40km/hr with no damage!

If you can find a Phazer Mountain Light they are a great light powder sled (410lbs!). The Mountain Lights have had thier skids dropped about 1". Find a Phazer ST (136 track) and install a 1.5" lug track on it and it's almost impossible to get stuck!

Thanks again for the comments. I cant seem to find a Phazer in good enough shape to pick up. But like I said I may try and pick up this 600cc Mtn Max. Seems to look in good shape but a few kms at 10,000.
Buddy said they got rid of the SMART CARBS and put on normal ones, as it was having jetting issues.

Thanks for the help. I went and picked up that 600cc twin Mtn Max. Its a 1997. The SMART carbs have been removed and replaced with OEM ones. I guess the CE, diagnostic light gets tripped now because some of the sensors are useless. Anyone know how I can get rid of this except for removing the bulb : )
