Hi I took apart my 91 polaris rxl 650 secondary clutch today for the first time. The helix is warn on 2 ends, both ands are warn on a diagonal pitch, worn more on the outside edge and less on the inside. I inspected the ramp shoes and sure enough 2 were pretty worn, but now I don't know how to get them out, I have the service manual but says nothing on how to get these things out. If someone could help it would b appreciated.

Also for some reason I can't get off the outer sheave on the secondary clutch. Its not the part that the belt runs along but the part on the outside of the clutch. If someone could help me with this also it would b much appreciated.......

The buttons in the secondary are pushed in, they should just pull out. You may have to drill a small hole into the button (1/8") or apply heat to the button housing to remove. I have been able to remove mine with vice grips.

To disassemble the secondary, you need to remove the snap ring. Place the clutch on a bench. Hold the fixed sheave and turn the movable sheave 1/4 turn. While still holding it, tap down lightly on the helix. That should let you take the snap ring out. Allow the sheaves to return, that should force the helix out. Good snap ring plyers are a must.

Make sure you mark which hole the spring is in for reassembly.

Hope that helps
